more news - kc was found beaten to death. kc was a Klingon so it can be assumed that either there was a single very strong assailant such as Jem'hadar, Data or Lore, species 8472, OR there were multiple attackers.

This is curious. I hadn't even considered that Data could be in play, that could change everything. It seems there are two factions, Borg and Starfleet, however, we have troubling deaths with evidence of Klingons, Romulans and now possibly Data among others. So that means there is a neutral faction? What is their win clause? We have all this attention to taking out the Borg and the Borg are assimilating people left and right and there's seemingly another faction doing whatever the heck they want. We need all hands on deck here.
