For normal maps, the max width is 1024 pixels. However, there is something as HD maps. Currently we have 1 of them: the
Europe 1814 map, which is in HD format: 1366x1000px.
However, these maps are not very popular (Glanru made his first remake of the eld world map HD format as well, but cut it back to 1024 px width later again).
The point is that most laptop screens are 1366px wide, which means that with some extra borders around browsers, OS and this website the map doesn't fit on one screen, so they have to scroll sideways (as well as downward), which is plain annoying.
And then of course, there is for every map a small version, which in the HD case, is 1024 px wide. So the small version of the widest map this site could tolerate is 1024 px indeed.
But again, I advice to make the normal version 1024 px.
There might fit a minimap between
Arabia and
Persis.
