I still don't think it was that horrible.

Ok, but still, the concept was good and it was taking place. Lots of things need to be redone in a map, you know.
Living proof that everyone can be a brilliant great good decent cartographer.

Hmmm, the whole thing would have had to be redone because every single border was jagged.
It is now Day 8. Please submit your Lynch vote, as well as any Role-specific Day actions you wish to perform (countdown).
Day Actions:
• #LYNCH [player], #NO LYNCH, #ABSTAIN in forum thread.
• Role-specific actions (via PM with V98).

@Virtuosity - I had forgotten that try from you. Searching an image of the Northern Hemisphere, casually I encountered a map where there is the old Soviet Union. It is something that can give more "theme" to the game I guess.

Anyone interested in a Nordic Region map?
A map with Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Greenland, Svalbard, Ã…land, and the Faroe Islands.

We already have a Baltic Sea map with several of the countries you mentioned, more northern than that can be "risky"... But may be also cool!!

I was hoping to move more upwards, however, it may be to be too difficult to fit greenland on a map satisfyingly with the rest of the nordic world.

I'm still interested in trying out making a map. See if it's possible, and if not, drop it before I put in too much effort.

We have new map making policies going into the Guide soon, so it is best to just see what the response / interest is to your suggestions before putting in any work whatsoever.

Ya, it's okay, I already moved on to a different idea. How long do I have to wait?

With the new policies, all maps must be suggestions only 'Here'. Then they will be assessed for the level of interest and suitability before any real work is carried out. This takes time, but we do not wish to rush into new maps.

I'm suggesting a Risk map of the Greater London Area. With the Thames cutting through the middle horizontally and the a couple Tube lines connecting widely separated territories.

By the way I would love it if there was a London Map on this site! :D

I have been working on a Middle East map for some weeks or months. My design is almost ready but not finalized yet. I may spend some words more to describe it and show the actual stage. But first of all I want to ask if I have permission to start a new thread for this map.

Virtuosity is welcome to help with gameplay suggestions if he wants, because I trust him pretty much, I noticed his happy capability to do deep evaluations. But more than a gameplay assistant I would need a graphic designer really.

A small part of the graphic job is done really, because I cleaned with solid colours a very detailed map of the area and it is ready to be "stroked" to create the regional dividers and coast outlines. I would love the artistic Fendi's touch but I don't know if she is available for it. By the way Aeronautic's technical assistance for the graphic job is always welcome.

@Bishop, I know you will appreciate that the future look and workings of the site are of the highest priority right now, as you know what work is going into raising the standards of all the maps ready for this and having read the new criteria in the Guide, you will know that we need a slow down and a lot of thought put into maps.
As D12 Cartographers (regardless of voluntary), it is our duty to ensure that the objectives are achieved, so that we may have a system that we all work to and stick to.
I am no exception, apart from graphic remakes and retouches (map standard increases) discussed by the senior staff, which don't need permission or discussion, from now on, I too have to submit my draft ideas here and see what feedback they receive and ask that Vexer or Fendi give me permission to create the map.

The senior staff want maps that would be used for war / battle purpose, not just places or concepts. You will notice that I guided Hoodlum toward a theme that suits this purpose for the Philippines map.
This is the reason for insisting that the ideas and drafts be placed here, so that I can ensure that they fit the requirements and that the person/people involved will be able to meet the required standard.

Please note that Clarke is involved in 3 maps (which I do not advise), you are heavily involved in Massachusetts (co-author) and this has had permission to proceed. It will of course need both of you to research a battle theme for this location in order to go the direction it needs to. With the new criteria, if it doesn't meet the required quality, it will be withdrawn.

Graphic guys are in very short supply, with so many maps still being finished off and still pending.

I politely ask all cartographers thinking of starting a new project to first look at the Map Progress page and see how you can help out there first in order to get a "level playing field" to start from.

It is imperative that we focus our concentration on one map at a time as a team, which gives better results. By this I mean, at least 1 Analyst & 1 Painter (graphics) per map from start to finish. We should only be involved in other maps by way of suggestion and advice.

The list of maps being worked on is getting smaller every week and hopefully we can get it down to a maximum of 2 at a time there. This means that suggestions should spend more time here before a space becomes available to create & develop the map.

The other problem we have as volunteers is we only have 2 painters and Psymon has very little map time, so it is difficult to reduce the map list quickly. This will take time, then hopefully we can produce maps more efficiently afterward.

You'll see from the Map News that the long term plan is to organise the type & popularity of maps that will be available to play on and reduce the choice list by removing some live maps that hardly get used.
