that was the idea. to do a south africa map separately, but draw it up the same style and so that it can be displayed how it is here but (1024 width x 2048). Width wise it will fit, I was just thinking that there could be a key in the middle explaining that it joins.. (something better than this example)

dunno if I wanna tackle it though, unless I can manage to figure out a good gameplay using similar style with the rivers (amazon) and mountains..

It would need a few more connections between N & S.

So that's a HUGE amount of scrolling required. Not going to be popular. I won't play it very often.

We had a work started on Middle Earth. But the person that made the job is not active anymore.
There were also some copyright issues if I remember correctly.

Here the forum thread, but images don't work anymore:

The London Boroughs could be used as a map.

From what I can tell only the borders between Bromley, Lewisham, Croydon, and Lambeth may need some cleaning up.

The Thames creates a nice natural border, and additional connectivity could be introduced by connecting boroughs using tube (underground/metro/subway) lines (so there's no need for ports either). We have some popular city maps, but they're all based in the US, so maybe this would be a good take on a Europese city with some interesting new concepts through the tube lines.

I'm going to bring it up again in case there are some new blood map makers interested in the idea. Atlantis anyone?

@balladin, it's normally for me to see what interest there is in a map idea from the forum viewers, players & staff that respond to the suggestion, to determine whether it would make a suitable D12 map.
It really helps to gain interest if you put up an image of some kind with some details such as the ideas you suggested, along with how many territories it may be suitable for and any game-play ideas.
You don't have to have any artistic skills to suggest a map and promote it.
It can be an existing image from the Internet, a hand drawn rough sketch or even an existing image with overwriting & highlighting . Most viewers are able to see the potential of the map and to imagine it developed.

@elysium5, as far as I can tell, there are no real maps or even two maps the same for Atlantis, because it's a fabled land. Perhaps you could choose one that you think would be most suitable and intriguing for a D12 map and post it here?

Matty and I actually still have a draft lying about for Atlantis. It was meant to be a large map. I'll discuss with Matty if we still want to continue pursuing it, otherwise I am fine putting up what we have and we can go from there.

Since Atlantis often looks something like this when pictured:

There is definitely potential for interesting gameplay. I am personally a big fan of the Atlantis look from Stargate: Atlantis, but it may be too symmetrical (symmetrical maps are generally less popular):

@Cireon, I see the first map's game-play / layout with its outer ring as pretty much Vexer's Saturn and the second one I see as a sort of Jungle of Despair, as it stands.

As you know they are quite symmetrical and/or dead ended, which means that they are very difficult to make an asymmetric game-play.

In both cases for me, it's easy to generate symmetric Regions with asymmetric connections, but the problem lies in making asymmetric Territories within the Regions mainly due to the predetermined shapes.

Here's just one example of Region formation and asymmetric connections, for which of course there are thousands of possibilities, but I can't seem to come up with any way of adding Territories within these regions without taking out sections, until it looks like a big snowflake.

Do you still have the copyright, Matty?

The map Matty and I designed is completely original and asymmetrical.

The copyright thing is awesome. I can't find it but I hope Matty remembers. Priceless.
