I checked out the chile map idea. It was ok (loved the perfectly- linear idea!) but it won't fit well on a computer screen. I have an idea that is perfectly linear and can fit on a computer screen without so much scrolling...

The Gambia! It's a lot like chile but much smaller and sideways. There could be like 10- 15 regions on the north and south side of the river. There's only one bridge- on the Far East part of the map. It would be great for linear gameplay! I really like the idea but for now I'm focused on making the Persian gulf (http://dominating12.com/forum/?cmd=topic&id=1501) map.

This google maps map could help you understand my description of The Gambia:

What about a GIANT world map. That you'd have to scroll all over the place to play, it'd be big enough it would functionally be playing with fog. And you could really only long term it because it would take months and months to achieve world domination.

It sounds kind of neat, even though I know it'd probably be impossible to do functionally.

Something like this, but with the whole world (yes I know I already posted this in the Roman Empire thread lol):

Maybe with a zoom function and some of the territories/regions reworked for gameplay of course.

How about my idea? Does anyone like my idea about a perfectly linear map? (Gambia)

An horizontal map can be ok... but a perfectly linear one? You mean each territory only borders the ones at left and right of them? We don't need a country for that and I don't think there would be a lot of strategy there.

A linear map will require ports or something else to connect the territories in order to make it playable and to be honest, we already have enough maps with special features such as ports so in my opinion, no...it doesn't actually sound that appealing. Sorry.

The concept is neat for me. I don't understand though which shops are linked. Regions seem too hard to defend for me. For example every shop in the purple zone is linked to an external region shop, which makes it almost impossible to defend. Check the guide for map making here, it explains it further.

I like it though, if you want some help with the layout, I can help you. Which program have you been using for this?

If you want to do the map, you have to create a new topic so we don't spam this one.

We now have a number of very good maps, especially some of the newer ones (Italia especially).

I think maybe the priority now should be to re-visit some of the older maps on the site and 'polish' them up.

No offense to their creators, but some of them could do with a slight make-over.
