In Legend of Korra, the main antagonist for season four has a map of the Earth Kingdom broken up into the provinces. We can use that to make the Earth Kingdom.

It's sometimes hard to make a map from a book, series, movie, etc due to Copyright.

Inspired by the NYC map, I would like to make a map of Los Angeles. It's pretty cool geography - ocean on one side, mountains, downtown. I thought the topology would be somewhat similar to the East Asia map, where there's a tight group of territories in the urban center, and broad wilderness at the edges.

I'm technically skilled at Paint Dot Net but I am no artist. I'd be happy to take the lead on this, but my weakness is in creating textures, shading, and anything that looks attractive. 

You can find what you lack on some of our cartographers (practically everyone but me ). It's advised for 1st time map makers to make a team with a more experienced cartographer who learns him the basic techniques.

I just betaed my last map, so I'm technically free. Plus I wanted to do some improvement to previous maps, so I will mostly have a free slot. If you want some help (and like my maps) I can help you (pdn is not the software I control the most, but anyway I can try). Other great cartographers are the assistants from the staff page, but I don't know how busy they are. Probably a lot

Improvements on the old maps is something that I really like! More than produce new maps, as we have many now. There are amazing maps but also some that are graphically lacking and some that need some adjustment on the capitals and if it is possible in few cases I would suggest some little game-play changes like connections to add or to remove. I will put my comments on the specific forum threads, I would like to start from the Z going to the A in "counter-alphabetic" order. If Psymon and everybody else support me on this I am more in the mood to start. But I don't know if you are speaking about your own maps or all the site maps.

Mainly I meant Tamriel, which need at least color and border modifications (maybe textures too, but I wouldn't like to mess a lot with the sandish theme)... but what you say makes sense. Anyway I'm with you, but there are limitations (I think we don't have all the original files, and maybe some of the cartographers don't want to see their jobs modified.

Anyway, more than a Z-A review, I think some maps need a review more than others and we should start with those. We can list our preferences and work depending on that.

In any case, I think you can suggest capitals improvements in any moment...
