I see players using the Live Lobby Chat to ask the staff questions, because they don't use the forums or find them too much of a mine field to get through, so I started a Topic where questions can be posted and they will be answered by the staff.

If the question has already been answered, your answer will probably be a link to the answer post.

Thanks, aeronautic. The live game lobby chat was getting pretty cluttered up, especially with the same questions multiple times.

When are skill points tallied. After each game or series of games. Ive beat some really good players in the last 25 games but the skill points remain the same. Some of the players have tallies on me as well. Just wondering how it works.

Your question was a 2 part question
1. "When are skill points tallied?"
2. "Some of the players have tallies on me as well. Just wondering how it works?"
The link definitely answers the 2nd part.
I believe the 1st question's answer is: Every time your player tally changes (when you are +/- in win ratio), so Skill Level can now go up and down and does so automatically.
For a more accurate explanation, we'll have to wait for Vexer to return from vacation.

It's not a very fair measure, nor very important, and it takes a bit to update all of them.

Skill points are updated whenever I remember to manually update them. Sometimes it's every day and sometimes once a week.

The problem is that calculating scores is CPU intensive and hits the server hard so it can't be done every 15 minutes like it once was due to the increased number of players. I have ideas on how to optimize the code, however, so that it can be updated more often.

Ideas: The ability to add more neutral players to 1v1 or 1v1v1 games, so you can use bigger maps.  A 1v1 huge map is too much of an advantage for whoever goes first.

Second idea, what about having a reveal map option for fog of war games....each player gets one "diplomats" map reveal for one turn, revealing the entire map for that player only. Kind of like extend time to be used once.

Some people would save it till the end no doubt, but it could be used wisely mid game or early game to figure out whose winning...plus other players wouldn't know if their secret plans were revealed or not.  Just adds more spice.

Can there be a game setting where you place where you want your troops to go, before you start the game? As in real Risk?

This is on a list of things to do but it is not high on the list for 2 reasons;

1. It requires a good amount of programming and the programmers are swamped with a very long list of high priority issues and

2. We need to figure out a way to do this without it taking forever to get the game started.

Hi hettinger, I think the main thing is how it could work conveniently for d12. there is a topic on this subject already, go to THIS LINK for the discussion.
