Okay, I have just copied the new map from the slot #34 to the slot #101, so that the official beta test is starting from now, with the name Jungle of Despair (new) Advanced and 0 games played. The discontinued one instead is called Jungle of Despair (old w/temples) and when all ongoing games will finish I will change it back to its original look, gameplay and title.

– Jungle History –

This map has a long history of edits and attempts to fix graphic flaws. I can summarize the whole thing in a few images and a few dates below:
marcoxa's 1st version – 2013 (click to show)
marcoxa's 2nd version – 2014 (click to show)
Hoodlum's dabble – 2020 (click to show)
Hoodlum's dabble (with D&D theme) – 2020 (click to show)
marcoxa's graphics with The_Bishop's temples – Feb, 2025 (click to show)
Hoodlum's (new) graphics with The_Bishop's temples – Mar, 2025 (click to show)

If you want to know the whole history in detail then I recommend you read the following forum threads:

Last update: 2 is better than 1.

Hoodlum and I discussed about the idea of having two versions of the same map: one with standard gameplay and one with special temple gameplay. Actually it was not such a long discussion, because we immediately agreed on this.

So, here the new 'standard' version:
Hoodlum's graphics (without temples) – Apr, 2025 (click to show)
100%

"Apr, 2025" because it will not be implemented before April.

Making the two maps recognizable

The names I propose for the two maps are just these:
Jungle of Despair Classic (with standard gameplay) and Jungle of Despair Advanced (with special gameplay).

As you can see the two maps look different:

---ooo---  ---ooo---

Anyway in order to make the two of them even more recognizable, and avoid any possible confusion when joining games, I propose to add the word 'Advanced' (just for the temple special version) on its thumbnail:

and on its small banner image:

Yeah, after months of inactivity, we are now having so many maps in development!!

Thanks Rockbert, I appreciate your comments in the map making forums! :)

Caricom is from Hoodlum and I think you should comment it in its dedicated forum thread:

Wow, it was faster than expected! Now both maps are available in beta for premium members to create games.

Two maps, two forum threads:
this one is for the 'Advanced' version, the other one is for the 'Classic' version.

I'll change the thread titles accordingly to avoid confusion.
