bishop reminded me about this map i made a while ago. i had even input it. basically an excuse to put polynesia again on the map, and then chuck in antarctica and go with the EXPLORED theme.
i realized later that i would have liked to have drawn asia to spread right across the top of the map so that there wasn't such a gap between asia and north america continent, and that's probably why i dismissed it lol. thoughts on this theme?
yeah i know it's another world map. pacific centered map is my preference like ww2 map. but i thought this looked decent and i had fun doing it

now to the map itself. isnt the +4 too much for the oceanic islands?
i would dds easter islands to this region and connect it to chile or peru. You could simply name that little dot in the south- western part "easter islands" and add connections to peru or chile and to tahiti. Then the +4 bonus would become more appropriate (or even +5?) and the map would become a bit more interesting.
(Another possible connection is between USA and Hawaii? But i am not sure on this one.)
Also you will get an additional passage in the south (easter islands and SA) to the one in the north (kamchatka and alaska) and the one very south (antarctic).

I would definetly add easter islands and then test the map.

PS: the colors and design are nice and i have nothing to add there, looking very good to the eye, no detail overkill, clean and beautiful.

Maybe just a thin dark frame around the image.

And maybe change the compass to gray/black? could be better looking alternative to the ysllowish/golden color?

PS: What is KSA? in the middle east? Kurdistan and Saudi Arabia? I never heard of this acronym.

PS: Why did you gave China +5 and these big islands south of it (new guinea etc...) only +4, although both have 5 territories to defend and 2 interior territories? Is it cuz you chanhed the connection of Borneo? But even so, would it make sense to have +5 and +4 on these two regions?

PS: Would it make sense to add the title of Indian ocean between Somalia and Java or is the space there to small? cuz its one of the major oceans in the world.

here i adjusted some regional bonuses, imo its more correct like this. the red circles around help to visualize the positioning of large regions on the map and prevent unequal distribution of these regions around the map. there are basicly 3 in asia, 3 in africa and 2 in north america. In between are enough middle size regions (+3) and some smaller regions (+1 and +2).

i also noticed there are no connections between carribean to europe/africa over the pacific... thats definetly unusual, but lets test it. my though would be to add just one connection from carribean to morocco and increase the mexico bonus to +3. Neither 0, nor 2 connection as they are now in this version and in the world expanded version are my optimal favorite, but i think i could live with it.

i also moved the writing "pacific ocean" a bit and added a writing for indian ocean. If you look from afar, all the four writings are placed in a harmonious way to each other, cuz they are parallel to each other and lay in a similar degree (around 45?). What u think?

I’ve been playing around with another idea.

Basically, I split the large central region in Africa into two smaller regions, each with a +2 bonus. The reason for this was to make the distribution of large and smaller/medium-sized regions in Africa a little more balanced.

If you look at the current version, Africa has two large regions and one very large region, but only one small region. That feels a little disproportionate to me. For players who start in Africa, this could potentially make the starting position somewhat more difficult, since Eurasia, Oceania, and North America have a relatively good balance between large and smaller/medium-sized regions, whereas Africa doesn't.

So, as mentioned, I would suggest splitting the large central region into two separate regions.

Secondly, I would also slightly adjust one of the territorial borders so that we end up with a territory that isn't connected to any other region. I think it might be beneficial to create some balance between regions where all of their territories border territories from other regions on the one hand, and regions that have one or two territories that are entirely internal on the other.
These are just two more suggestions from my side, of course. They're completely optional. Have a look and see whether you think they make sense, or perhaps other people have some opinions on them as well. (But to counter it: It would not reflect the real border flow. and i dunno whether its a problem, cuz this map mostly is based on real borders.)

In my opinion, these changes would make sense for players who focus more on conquering regions and gradually expanding their territory while taking the geography, the distribution of regions and territories, and their connections to each other into account. It might be less relevant for players who mainly play around increasing cards.

And in this version, I increased the brightness by exactly 50% to test some things. looks somehow different ant a bit more bright/lighter/cheersful, although its basicly the same map. if u like it,u can change it this way.

cheers!

Yeah Easter Island is what what we call Rapa Nui, and a u can see, it was drawn in there and intended for play initially. I might get some motivation to play around with this. KSA is kingdom of Saudi Arabia I believe? I think I borrowed that acronym from one of our other d12 world maps
oops, I missed the memo. Stray bullets and consequences

Hoodlum, you could make a polynesia/micronesia etc. map, basicly the whole oceania region with its islands, including hawaii, easter island and a chunk of south america, cuz people from oceania had contact with people from SA in the ancient times. Maybe exclude australia to make it more focused on the islands. It would also fit very well to include water based territories as Virtuosity did on his england map, it would fit the oceania topic very nice.

I like the idea, .. I would rather include the whole Pacific Ocean with its islands and its American, Asian and Australian coasts. That's debatable.

Guinea, Ghana and Nigeria perhaps should form a bonus region called West Africa.

I think it's cool. Yes there's a cartographic issue here: there's no ocean east of Kamchatka, Alaska should be there. The problem comes from the fact that the true shape of this map (Robinson-like projection) is an ellipsoid, it is not a rectangle! So you filled with oceans some parts that actually are out of the map. Not so bad, it can stay in my opinion.
