@elysium5 Your statement in #Post 28 made every bit of sense and was logically and intelligently thought out and intelligibly and articulately presented!

None of that had to be explained to me, I have lived a long time and can spot when someone is being downright rude and awkward and hiding behind the façade of 'constructive criticism'.

I don't believe that was or would be the response of Thorpe, I sense he feels he has the right to be brash and condescending due to his position and standing amongst the staff and as an accomplished map maker. If any of it was constructive, I wouldn't be having this conversation. Look at The_Bishops's post above and see that he too points out the poor look of the then current amendment of the map, but offers words of suggestion and possibilities as well as hope that this is not how it will look when completed... constructive and not a bitter pill to swallow at all, if anything very inspiring!

I know it takes all sorts to make a world, but a person has a choice when adding their opinion to something, "should I help or hinder"? How many potentially good map makers have been scared off due to verbal hindrance and lack of support / encouragement I wonder!?

That's one more nail in the coffin for me... touché!

Here is premature textured version by the way:

Well this thread seems to have gone from a Map forum to a General Discussion one.

Could somebody please give me some constructive feedback?

Gameplay is for me... 'why-not'. I mean, it can stay but I can't see anything specially good as gameplay, nor specially attractive, but also anything specially wrong, except the fact that still there's a 2-territories-locked area (the NW area), but still I can say 'why not', it can stay, it's just an area of 26 terries that only gives a +9 bonus since it is not unfair to have it. But bonuses are mostly low for my taste.

If you want more, I can say that having regions of different size from +1 to +8 it's nice for me. The little +1 region inside the biggest one is the nicest thing I can see in this map. The small +2 regions all bunched together, 2 in a corner, 3 in other corner, are not nice for me, they practically are the only 2 interesting bonus areas in the map. But a map of this size is supposed to be played with 8 or 9 players, they all will fight for conquer those 2 corners? May be nice, I don't know... but I feel it would be better to have those +2 regions spread here-and-there all over the map instead of them all in the corners.

But the main issue for me is: what this map represents? what the idea is? I mean, most of people represent a real place, like U.S. or Europe and they make it as a game map. But also some people have a special game-play idea and they draw a fictional place to make a map in the way they want. But this... This is what?

I appreciated much more your 88mm map, that just reached both task to represent a real place and to provide a special game-play idea. It was an accurate representation of a historycal battle, plus an interesting idea as gameplay with Germans playing blocked by neutrals but in a good position, and Americans starting clustered but far from the objective area. Unfortunately it was not programmable! But it made much more sense than this in my opinion.

Thanks The_Bishop.
I think, as it was a thrown together idea just to get 81 Teritories on a map, which the Italia map is now going to cover, I will restart this one in a thought-out manner.
I also now have an idea of what D12 and it's players want and like.

Stay posted to this forum guys, the map will change but it will still continue here.

Aeronautic is no longer able to add anything to forums, so he's asked me to bump this map as he's redrawn it and awaits feedback before continuing. It is now a 54 territory map of the same name.

It's okay tramadol, I have been allowed back into the forums. Thank you to the staff for allowing this.
I am no longer a player at D12, but I wish to make maps, so don't PM me unless it's about my maps & don't invite me to any games, I won't play, I am retired! I will also not be making comment on any other forum topics!

Yes, I have redrawn the Melee map and await some constructive feedback.

Welcome back aero! Your work is very good ^^

Could you please name (or number) your territories? I have some details to point out, but can't explain them properly/easily. I also think that some of the little territories won't be fitting labels very well...

Does the link keep updating? The link in post #1 takes me to the same image as the link in post #15. I think I am seeing the correct map, as it has no 4 corners problems, but can someone verify that I am seeing the correct map?

About the map:

The regions on the left, blue & yellow, both worth a bonus of +2. The yellow region has 2 borders and 2 interiors. The blue has 3 borders and 3 interiors. Am I the only one who thinks that this is unfair?

I don't know how else to say this, but, in my opinion the map looks... blobby. I think this is due to a large amount of landmass with very little oceans/lakes. Personally, I don't like the shape of the map. However, if gameplay is good I would still love to play on this map as looks are subordinate to gameplay.

I hope that's not discouraging - I would be dicouraged! - this map has potential. Also, by the sound of it, your other maps will not have the same problems (Italy/Middle East: lots of seas :D).

It seems that you've focused on making a certain amount of territories and with the amount of territories you tried to have it looks a little crowded in places like the brown and blue region. Do you agree?

Not sure if you are all seeing the latest map as I overwrote the old one and might not have refreshed for you, so I renamed it and posted it again.
I will put some labels on soon okay.

You should be seeing a 54 territory map, with a mini map in the top right and Melee written in Old English in blue.

@Virtuosity98, you must be seeing the wrong (old) map as you mention bonuses and there are none yet on the new map.

This map is much better! I love it!

The only thing I would do is rearrange the territories in the brown region, as it looks slightly crushed up in that region.

Those bonuses are very good! However, one problem with this proposal (Proposal1):
The red region is fairly overpowered with a +3 bonus when compared to the other +3 regions (purple and light blue). But the red region needs to be +3 or else the light brown +2 region would be overpowered. See the problem? The bonuses are not bad, they just have that issue.

I have a proposal (Proposal2):

Spoiler (click to show)

As the regions in this map are fairly difficult to obtain, it makes sense to crank up the region bonuses. This proposal solves the problem with the red region by making it more powerful than the light brown region but less powerful than the now +4 regions.

Please vote either "Proposal1" or "Proposal2" to voice your preferred bonuses!
