@elysium5 Your statement in #Post 28 made every bit of sense and was logically and intelligently thought out and intelligibly and articulately presented!
None of that had to be explained to me, I have lived a long time and can spot when someone is being downright rude and awkward and hiding behind the façade of 'constructive criticism'.
I don't believe that was or would be the response of Thorpe, I sense he feels he has the right to be brash and condescending due to his position and standing amongst the staff and as an accomplished map maker. If any of it was constructive, I wouldn't be having this conversation. Look at The_Bishops's post above and see that he too points out the poor look of the then current amendment of the map, but offers words of suggestion and possibilities as well as hope that this is not how it will look when completed... constructive and not a bitter pill to swallow at all, if anything very inspiring!
I know it takes all sorts to make a world, but a person has a choice when adding their opinion to something, "should I help or hinder"? How many potentially good map makers have been scared off due to verbal hindrance and lack of support / encouragement I wonder!?
That's one more nail in the coffin for me... touché!
Here is premature textured version by the way:
