Sorry, I think that just 'newed' it up a little bit. Need to go the other way and fade it out more. BTW, what was that free map design program you mentioned? It must be hard being the only cartografer at the moment and I still wouldn't mind learning.

There is three of them...
gimp
inkscape
Paint,Net.com.

gimp is like PhotoShop...but does not get the outlines, text like PhotoShop can...so I why use it? That is what I heard, but I can not compare it to photoshop($).

Inkscape is hard and so why learn it? And I have not heard of any map maker really using it.

Paint.Net.com is the one I use. Easyer and has a lot of add-ons to help do the stuff I want...but not all of what I want. Look at the Brazel map before Vexer got a hold of it! I want the ablity do tweek my maps and not wait for the text to get done(Middengeard Map)zzzzzzz.

I am not the only one, but I am the only one that wants or has time to make maps. Glanru has a map he is making and it is the forum.

I like the concept of the map!!!
Try making the map look as battle worn and torn as possible.
It in my opinion should look like a map that was carried and used in the war!!!
You could achieve this by making the whole thing look a bit dirty and gritty. Not clean cut new!!!
Also making the whole border of the map look schorthed and burnt like you see on old pirate treasure maps!!!
To finish it of I would add a few bullet holes through the letters and around the map title ---THE NORMANDY INVASION ( Dday) but don't overdo it!!!
Obviously this is of no importance right now until you finalize game play and everything else, But it would add some nice eye candy for the end result.

This is VERY nice. I like the style. I like the gameplay.

BORDERS - On the left side one border is missing and if you look at that area you can see a kind of pixelation. It looks like it has been removed with some tools but it is still visible. Not only there, for example look at the East side, Paris.

AIRPLANES - There are 2 pairs of same names. "Airbornes" in the first version were "101st Airborne" and "6th Airborne" ("division" can stay implied in my opinion). For the "Spy planes" I suggest to call them "Spy plane A" and "Spy plane B". D12 logos are nice but I think the old-airplane icons would be even nicer. I would like to see the effect!

BONUSES - I think it would be more fair to have equal bonuses for equal regions. For example look at the central one (light-blue +7) then look the grey on its left (+6) and the brown on its right (+4). Both have 6 territories, 4 bordering so I think both should be worth +5. Then right-down corner, red and green both have 5 territories, 4 bordering, I suggest +4 for both. Then on the left side, the green one with the border missing and the brown one on the top, both have 5 territories, 3 bordering, I suggest +3 for both.

CONNECTIONS - I would keep everything as it is, except the little river in the grey region. I would get rid of it, it looks useless to me. It's the only river that doesn't correspond with a region border and I can't see any improvement in gameplay by having that river there. You can argue that you want a dead-end territory but I can see other 4 dead-end territories, I think they are quite enough.

@killpriest - Your ideas are nice but I don't like so much your nickname!! I invite you to confess the reasons of your nickname here: http://www.dominating12.com/forum/?cmd=topic&act=view&id=1246&page=1

Looks a really good map. The only thing I would say is that it's Southampton, not South Hampton (although it maybe like this due to a lack of space).
This isn't me being picky, I really do like the map, it just stood out for me that's all.

Impressive map. I dont have much to say for gameplay but i dont think that bonuses are all right.

I would like to see darker colors and play little with saturation or maybe try some new layers and play with blending mode for the layer.
Rivers are well done, border lines have too much glow and it is too wide, background paper is not good enough.
Good luck with this Impressive map ;)

Also you have Bristol in Twice, the one near Cardiff is the correct one, the other one should be Cornwall.
My home city Swansea expands further west, as Llanelli is tiny in comparrison.
A lot of the borders are quite far away from their real ones. Bristol should be further SW as the channel under Cardiff is called The Bristol Channel.

The shape of the UK is vertically compressed and horizontally stretched. If I could suggest a fix?
Make the mini map smaller (The size of the lower title block), Move Europe down to make a longer map, so UK can be stretched to correct proportions.

I know you had to squash the UK and narrow the English Channel to fit them both in and it would look acceptable if more proportionate.
