the game started with 28 players signed up. so i prepared 26 roles (knowing that a few would drop immediately). i made 26 names - a-z. there were some name associations that could earn players some immunities = bert and ernie, tom and jerry, felix and oscar, larry, curly, and moe. i took the list in order of sign up (2oc =1, kbeasr = 2, gerf = 3, etc.) and used a random number generator to pick 7 numbers/names to be mafia - all were new players. i then did the same with names, regardless of faction. i then did the same with 26 occupations - there was one occupation association = butcher, baker, and candlestick maker and one occupation = dog groomer that had a special clause (i thought about making a counter clause for the dog catcher but didn't). i then rolled a pair of dice for each player to determine their age. i then came up with 9 street names and randomly picked 3 for each one (+ 1 extra for 28). then same for 9 pets. there were 7 town power roles = 2 investigators, a sheriff, a deputy, a medic, a mayor, and an arbitrator and each had a back up. all power roles were volunteer since normally in a game a player's occupation is their power role. there were only 2 mafia power roles = godfather and investigator but all other goons were backups.
there was a small hint that there were 2 town investigators = the back up role said that he was "

the" back up.
there was nothing to the street names or acid/base name associations. one of the biggest miscalculations was that TLM had to put a veteran player on the mafia team.
all this i did the saturday and sunday before the game started on monday because it was going to take many hours. then at final player check in 7 people failed to do so and 1 dropped giving 20 players. i had to rearrange some power roles at that point and one of the drops was mafia so that worked out. then on monday after the game had started, vicious wanted to play so i just revived one of the dropped roles.
aside from the Game history/phase reports in post #1, here are my notes

(mafia wanted to investigate all the veterans 1st) mafia investigated hood and found him to be town investigator and 2oc and found him to be backup deputy - both with role descriptions. hood investigated ajs and found him to be town. mike investigated great and found him to be town.
d2 - have was lynched somewhat randomly from the inactives = i did not expect anybody to get over 50% on day 2. hood had the best explanation of his play style on 7/99 (page/post). best insight from mafia was tm in the mafia chat and the other 4 were struggling to plug in to the game, but the mafia worked together and soon tm, kbeast, goryh, and train were all up to speed. hood noticed that vic was added after the game started and deduced that she was town. hood lied about having a dog and kc caught him. the vote tally from day 2 shows an extra vote for kc 13/183 = one of the veterans could have figured out that one of the 3 kc voters was mayor (typically a town role).
n2 - mafia shot hood = not because of reputation but due to investigation (which might have been due to reputation). mafia investigated kc and found him to be the backup sheriff. kc (dog groomer was in 4 chats with several different players and asked all of them except for abs and rock (2 of the 3 dog owners) if they had dogs.
d3 - nothing - no lynch
n3 - mafia shot 2oc and mafia investigated abs and found him to be the backup medic. ajs investigated 2oc and found him to be town. mike quit the game with 1 hr. left in the phase which put bowhog as an investigator. bowhog investigated 2oc and found him to be town. mike had a special name (tom) and i didn't want that option to disappear that early so i randomly swapped names with another player that did not have one = train became tom. rock jailed vic without chatting with her = that would have revealed to vic that rock was the jailor but rock was sus of vic. stobbs saved himself but no shot was taken on him. kc found tm had a dog and therefore learned that he was mafia.
a theme started to emerge - town investigates town and then one of them dies before the info can do any good.
d4 - lynch parameters changed from majority to plurality. tm was lynched due to kc's report. tm tried to flush out felix by claiming to be felix but it backfired on him. if he could have survived the lynch vote = he could have opened a chat with bowhog and earned 2 lynch days immunity.
n4 - rock jailed kc and chatted. bowhog investigated stobbs and found him to be town. ajs investigated abs and found him to be town. mafia shot bowhog. stobbs saved bowhog. mafia investigated rock and found him to be the deputy. k8 shot stobbs.
d5 - abs was lynched
n5 - rock jailed bowhog and chatted. bowhog investigated nobody because he was in jail. ajs investigated akk and found him to be town. mafia shot kc. mafia investigated wise and found him to be the arbitrator.
goryh and other mafia figured out how to tell who was in jail so they would not waste a shot. they did this by opening a chat w every player and would get the report that xxx was not available, that meant that player was in jail. i did not anticipate that but did not stop it = good job.
d6 - yoda was lynched. cwolf replaced great. tempers flared in the forum

n6 - rock jailed nobody. bowhog investigated ajs and found him to be town. ajs investigated vic and found her to be town. mafia shot akk. mafia investigated ajs and found him to be the backup investigator.
d7 - wise was lynched
n7 - rock jailed k8 and chatted. bowhog investigated cwolf and found him to be town. ajs investigated train and found him to be mafia but then mafia shot ajs. mafia investigated cwolf and found him to be the backup arbitrator.
town finally came together and started figuring everything out.
d8 - bowhog was lynched anyway
n8 - rock jailed nobody. both (all 4) town investigators are gone but no matter = everybody has a decent idea who everybody is. . mafia investigated vic and found her to be vanilla. k8 shot goryh. mafia shot rock = this was in my opinion mafia's biggest (and maybe only) mistake of the game = they should have shot k8 and then it would have been a 25% chance that rock would jail the mafia shooter and not the mafia investigator or a townie to protect them. - otherwise - mafia would have won = at that point there was only 5 town left (k8, rock, vic, cwolf, and jethro) and 3 mafia left (train, goryh, and kbeast). if mafia shoots k8 and k8 shoots goryh (or any mafia) it is 4/2 going into the lynch - jethro is going to get 3 votes for inactivity so both mafia vote for him and he is dead making it 3/2 going into night 9.

if rock jails vic, cwolf, or kbeast = mafia shoots and kills and then the lynch is 2 mafia vs 2 town. town then lynches a mafia after cwolf breaks the tie. it is 2/1 going into night 9 and mafia shoots cwolf. 1/1 tie vote on day 10 = nobody dies, mafia then shoots vic and mafia wins.

if instead rock jails train on night 8 so he can not shoot = then town wins hence the 25% - however it was more likely 50/50 because rock would have figured out he needed to jail a mafia.
d9 - jethro was lynched
n9 - k8 shot train. mafia shot k8. mafia investigated cry and found him to have a pet snake 3(might as well - they had already investigated the role of all living townies.
d5 - kbeast was lynched = game over = town wins
great game to all active players. the new players are now veterans. thanks to the veterans for not complaining (too much) about being targeted - i wanted the new players to out last the vets anyway

i was surprised nobody just came out and said "i'm jerry and i am looking for tom" or whatever to earn the immunities. there were a few hints put in the forum but nobody (that counted) picked up on them.
all town players win even if you died. congrats to vic and cwolf for bringing it home for town (it is really, really good to have you back crywolf my friend).
