Basic Mafia game thread

[b]BACKGROUND[/b] welcome to the small hamlet of basic/acidic. most of the time the residents of basic/acidic get along rather well - but at times they do seem to clash. lately, tensions have seemed to be rising between the 2 clans descended from the 2 men that founded the village many years ago = Bob Basic and Aaron Acidic. so much so that residents have started to turn on each other. suspicions are running high. since there has been so much intermarrying between the 2 factions over the years - nobody can really tell where people's allegiances lie. a small group has been seen late at night entering the vacant building at the end of Pudding Path but nobody seems to know what they are discussing til all hours of the night or who they are. we shall see how this all plays out. [b]GAME MECHANICS[/b] [u]here are the parameters unique to this game[/u] - there are two phases to the game, each 24 hours long. each phase begins and ends at 21:00 server clock (the clock in the black bar at the top of this page) which is 2 pm central time usa but will be a different local time depending on your location. - during the day phase open chat in this forum is allowed. there is no forum chat allowed during the night phase. there will be a vote during the day. the player that receives the most votes will be killed by the group. the vote is normally cast by saying [b]# lynch tenn[/b] on a single line by itself. it can be part of a longer post like this but it is best to put it on a line alone and [b]bold[/b] it to make sure i count it. if you don't like using the word lynch = just say that you vote for so and so. you can change your vote up until the deadline. [u]there are no PM chats allowed during the day[/u] phase except for the one that i create for the mafia. - [b]during the night phase, there is no forum chat allowed[/b]. - different games allow different degrees of private message chatting but all require that the moderator (me in this case) be included in all chats. all other mafia games include more complex twist than this one - so i will throw in a small one = when i randomly assign town/mafia roles, i will also designate you as even or odd and you can only create a private message with another player on the nights that correspond to your even/odd designation. you can respond and chat in any PM you are included in but can only initiate a PM on an even night if you are even and odd night if you are odd. - you are encouraged to participate. each player is required to make at least 1 post in the forum each day phase - if not, it will result in 1 additional lynch vote on you. if you fail to vote = it will result in 2 additional lynch votes on you. = stay active. you are allowed to vote "no lynch" if you see fit and it will be counted in the tally. - players can initiate a maximum of 3 private message chat rooms each per night with a maximum of 5 players per chat. you can duplicate players you include. you can be included in as many as you are invited to/included in by others. if you prefer = i will open the chats for you - just tell me who you want to talk to. - for the 1st 3 day phases - a player must get a [b]majority[/b] of votes to be lynched = more than 50% of all votes cast. - for the remaining day phases - a player that gets a [b]plurality[/b] of votes will be lynched = the player with the most votes - in this game, there are only 2 factions = town and mafia. you can win even if you are dead, so long as your faction wins - so be willing to sacrifice yourself if needed for the good of your faction. [u]generic rules/guidelines[/u] - dead players should not post in the forum nor PM other players. i will create a chat room for dead players to discuss the game among yourselves or ask me questions. there should be no discussion about the game outside of the game. - you can copy paste things but no screen shots are allowed. copy/paste can be altered to support your lies/deceptions but screenshots would prove you are truth telling and are therefore not allowed = you must convince others without hard evidence. - please do not edit your posts - just repost a correction - if you have any questions = ask me. others are allowed to advise you also, but they can mislead you and try to manipulate you. the moderator (me) is not allowed to lie but i am allowed to answer with "no comment". - you must try to help your faction win - do not be fooled into thinking there is another moderator requiring you to provide info like name, faction, DOB, age, bank routing number, name of your 1st pet, etc. -The moderator is always right. If there is an issue, respectfully bring it to my attention, but do not argue it. Keep in mind that deception, deceit, and lying are not only allowed, but encouraged and expected. Be careful who you give information to, but by the same token - do not isolate yourself and withhold valuable info from your faction. - don't hesitate to ask the moderator for help! - there will be a lynch vote on day 1 and there will be a mafia/other actions allowed on night 1. don't worry, i know from experience that nobody will get over 50% of the vote since there is nothing/very little to base suspicions on yet. this is mainly to let you get the hang of lynch voting and to see how the results are posted. this is the one and only day you can vote for me (TLM) if you want to. but if you do - will i get mad and take it out on you??? - if you know that you will be out of town or out of internet ahead of time = just let me know and you will be penalized with extra votes on yourself. speaking of penalties - many times if a player violates the rules = the moderator will penalize that player in some way all the way up to making a mod kill. please do your best to read and follow the guidelines so as to make the game fair and fun for all.
