If this has been mentioned before I am sorry, but I don't feel like reading all 20 pages haha :D

I think a golf course map could be pretty fun. Think of it as a cross between basketball map and jungle of despair map. If I could draw or photoshop, I would start something to give an idea, but my artistic skills are pretty nonexistent. I would love to help in all ways possible if someone wanted to make a golf course map.

Anyways, just a suggestion I thought up in my strategic management class tonight.

sounds like a good idea, I love golf courses - some of the most beautiful landscaping on Earth. (I hate the basketball map though haha)

I am not a fan of the basketball map either. (Basketball is my favorite sport too go figure). I guess I just said it cause it is sports related haha. I can see it more like jungle of despair though.

I'm going to be working on a new concept map. I want to take the popularity of Caribbean and mix it with the balance of Saturn (before you get up to high number of players and Saturn gets crazy that is). I want it to look like a real life map, but still have the geometric balance of Saturn, where there are equal starting spots for caps games, and equal territories per region, and equal bonuses.

The plan:
Working Title: The Harbor
The setting: Sea side city, half circle around a harbor. Regions equally divided by rivers that flow into the harbor. Ports will be located at the end of each region harbor side.

Along the land locked side, I want to include something new (at least new to D12 and I've never seen it personally but assume it's out there somewhere): Train tracks. Basically will act like ports for land.

What I need feedback on:
What is the best part of your favorite map?
What is the best part of Caribbean? What is the WORST part of Caribbean?

What is your ideal size for a half hour game? List a map, or just tell me number of territories, and continent size you would like to defend, number of borders you like to defend for a bonus of 2? bonus of 3?

The worst part of Caribbean is that you have to go through the Massive Region in the middle to get to another region. It sounds a good Idea. I personally like small maps eg: Caribbean or maps where it's easy to expand eg: Med states.
The best part or Caribbean is that is extremely easy to expand and at the same time it's still small.

Sounds like a good idea!

The vast connectivity introduced by ports and railways (good idea btw :)) will make the map just as connected as Saturn. Also, the equal regions caused by the rivers will also make it similar to Saturn. For this reason, to avoid a map very similar to Saturn, I feel it needs at least 40 territories.

About Caribbean: The Caribbean is unique due to its lack of connectivity and its one-path-routes between capitals. I think this map should have more routes between capitals than Caribbean does.

Regions: Just make the regions fair! In Caribbean, all regions are easy to hold with high bonuses. In Saturn, all regions are kind-of hard to hold but have low bonuses. I love both maps! I think the Caribbean map is a slight anomaly however, so I would base region bonuses more on Saturn than Caribbean.

I am looking forward to this map already!

Hi to the map community.
It was an honour to be asked to join you all as a cartographer!

I, just like all the other cartographers here will bend over backward to help anyone who is making, trying to make or just suggesting a map.

If you have a good idea and lack the graphic ability to make it happen or find it too time consuming to make certain things, please feel free to ask for assistance by Private Message or anywhere you see me active in the forum.

If you use a different graphics package to Photoshop, are reluctant to release your master file or even don't wish to divulge personal email, don't worry I can always upload a transparent GIF for you to download and paste as a layer into your graphics package. I will however need the exact dimensions of your master file.

Good luck to all who are making maps for D12 players to enjoy and have more choice from and don't be discouraged by the amount of what seems like negative feedback in the forum when you submit a map or update. Most are giving their personal opinions and their likes & dislikes with maps and they are greatly varied. What you will need to accept though, is that you will have to change and keep changing whatever doesn't work!

Central America and Caribbean have been done, which overall covers a very similar geographical area, but I'm not against the idea.

Ok I want to see a moonbase, or a space colony on some other planet. Think about how cool that could be. There could be some planet terrain for a large chunk of the map, a dome, some city like structures, some wind farms, and a space dock. There would be such a great combination of clean lines, natural lines, geometry from all kinds of imaginative things you could dream up.

Sounds awesome cbt!

While we are at it, I think making a space station map would be cool too. It could look very similar to the House map (which in my opinion is actually fairly underrated), but with another theme. Inspiration can also be taken from FTL:

Do you mean Pangea?

That would be a difficult map to make...

You could go later than Pangea, and do Gondwana. Base it on a World Classic type, but with the continents as then.
