Maybe a smaller version with 12 players only?

I think I would like to bow out of this tournament actually. Thank you though. Keep the 2000 tokens though as a gift to the victorious. :)

The 12-players idea is to run all the games 2 times -- everyone playing 24 games -- or, only 8-player games are played 2 times (needed for divisibility) -- so everyone playing 16 games. Third option: we keep the original format, waiting until we have 24 participants.

Well, okay let's run it reduced to 12 players. The games with 8 players will be played twice by everyone, offering more chance to get a 7-point win. Each participant plays 16 games in total.
