Please note both team games and the join game tab are not ready jet. The only reason join order exists (note that it is called "choice" is because we want choice but we don't have the interface yet for choosing numbers)

This will not work in long term games where ppl join once and don't look again untill the game pops up in their turns list.
I won't make things that work for live games only.

On the create game page, team options (gray if not a team game):
Team numbers: Pairs, Triads
Team Selection: Random, Join Order, Select. 
Team passwords: None, Set by first team member

Invite function then modified to include 'invite to team', with the same whose online functionality, this bypasses team passwords.
Join Order will dissapear completely, we will have random, balanced by points (wip) and choice (or select if you like).

You have a good point on the team-invite or team password.
However, I would like the creator to be able to decide who is allowed to join his game, regardless of the teams. So that will be either a double invite (one for game, one for team) or a double password :S
Vexer's idea will disable the latter, but not solve the first.

(Other option: password (game) and invite (team) or vice versa.

Also @Vexer: I want to be able to allow a choice game that everyone can just join. Even if it's just to be able to start a live game at a time few ppl are online.



So some good points and ideas here, but to me theres no clear solution yet.

The creator sends out invites to all the players s/he wants to play with (no passwords needed or allowed). Those players can see a list of whose is invited and invite any number of them to join their team. If their favorite teammate is not invited then they can ask the creator to invite them. Choice:
A player can choose any open slot on any team. You can switch teams at anytime by leaving and rejoining. That last player to get a teammate can potentially get screwed. Can set a minimum points required to avoid getting really screwed.

I think editing invites will be necessary. I also think that an invited player should be able to remove themselves from the list so that they don't get invites from the other players.
