HOODTOWN MAFIA — RECRUITING NOW

HoodTown
Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.

Something is wrong in HoodTown.

The streets appear peaceful during the Day, but after dark the town belongs to criminals, killers and creatures hiding behind ordinary faces.

The Town must discover who can be trusted before it is overwhelmed.

This game will feature a new experiment for Dominating12 Mafia:

Every player will compete using an anonymous HoodTown account.

Instead of entering the game under your normal username, you will be privately assigned an identity such as:

HT_Ashcroft
HT_Blackpine
HT_CinderVale
HT_Nightwell

There are 20 prepared HoodTown identities, each with its own username and avatar.

Only the host and D12 administrators will know who controls each account during the game.

A Game Without Reputation

The anonymous accounts mean:

  • Your normal D12 reputation will not follow you into HoodTown.
  • Regular players cannot be targeted because of previous games.
  • Newer players can compete without being judged by their experience.
  • Friendships, rivalries and old grudges cannot decide the game.
  • Every player begins with a clean identity.

The extra challenge will be hiding your personality and usual playing style.

You may write differently, change your habits or even imitate the playing style of somebody familiar. Part of the fun will be trying to work out who is behind each mask.

Your real identities will be revealed after the game.

HOW TO JOIN

If you want to enter HoodTown, reply to this thread with:

I’ll play.

Recruitment may remain open for a while as we build the best possible roster.

Once the game is ready, accepted players will privately receive their assigned HoodTown account and further instructions.

Twenty residents will enter HoodTown.

Some will protect it.
Some will corrupt it.
Some simply want to survive.

HOW HOODTOWN WILL WORK

HoodTown will be played through the Dominating12 forums and private-message system.

The game will alternate between Day and Night phases. Each phase is expected to last approximately 24 hours so that players in different time zones have a reasonable opportunity to participate.

DAY PHASE

During the Day, players may:

  • Discuss what happened during the Night.
  • Question other residents.
  • Share or fabricate role claims and results.
  • Form alliances and private conversations.
  • Decide who should face the Town’s judgment.

Votes will be submitted according to the game instructions.

Near the deadline, the game may enter a Final Hour. When voting closes, the result will be announced and the Night phase will begin.

NIGHT PHASE

During the Night, players with abilities will privately submit their actions to the host.

Depending on their role, a player may:

  • Investigate another resident.
  • Protect or heal somebody.
  • Block, control or redirect an action.
  • Deceive investigators.
  • Convert another player.
  • Attack or kill somebody.

When the Night deadline arrives, all valid actions will be resolved. Private results will be sent, deaths will be announced and the next Day will begin.

PRIVATE COMMUNICATION

Unlike some previous Mafia games, private conversations do not need to include the host.

Players may communicate privately with one another throughout both Day and Night unless their role, status or a moderator instruction prevents it.

This allows alliances, deception and secret planning to develop naturally without requiring the host to be copied into every conversation.

However:

  • Game communication must use the approved D12 accounts and messaging system.
  • Do not communicate about the game through outside apps or personal accounts.
  • Do not reveal which regular D12 player controls your HT account.
  • Do not share screenshots or edited copies of moderator messages.

The host will not routinely monitor every conversation while the game is active. Messages sent through the HT accounts may be reviewed after the game when the accounts are returned.

THE HOODTOWN GUIDE AND ACCOUNT RULES

HoodTown will have an external reference site designed specifically for this game.

The game itself will still take place on Dominating12. The HoodTown site will serve as the game’s rulebook and player guide.

It will include:

  • All 40 possible HoodTown roles.
  • Role abilities and investigation results.
  • Attack and defence levels.
  • Control, roleblock and visiting mechanics.
  • Day, Night and voting rules.
  • Player tips and strategies.
  • The anonymous HoodTown roster.
  • Phase and countdown information.

The complete collection of possible roles will be public, but the 20 roles selected for the game will remain secret.

The HoodTown link will be provided when the player version is ready.

DOMINATING12 RULES STILL APPLY

All normal Dominating12 rules must be followed while using an HT account.

This applies especially to the rules concerning language, harassment, personal attacks and appropriate conduct.

Deception is part of Mafia. Abuse is not.

When using an HT account:

  • Follow all D12 site and forum rules.
  • Keep language within D12 standards.
  • Use the account only for the assigned HoodTown Mafia game.
  • Do not use the account to play D12 Risk games.
  • Do not reveal who controls the account during the game.
  • Do not share the account’s login details.
  • Do not change its username, avatar, password or profile settings.
  • Do not use it to interfere with unrelated forum activity.

Risk-game functions have already been disabled on these accounts.

POST-GAME RECAP AND AWARDS

After the game, the host may review the conversations conducted through the HT accounts to understand how the game developed behind the scenes.

GPT-assisted analysis may be used, where practical, to help:

  • Reconstruct important alliances and betrayals.
  • Explain how major decisions were reached.
  • Identify successful deception and deduction.
  • Create a summary of how the game unfolded.
  • Select deserving Town, Mafia and Neutral MVPs.

The AI would be used to help summarize game-related activity—not to judge anyone personally.

Because HT account messages may be included in the post-game review, players should keep those accounts limited to HoodTown gameplay and avoid sharing private or sensitive real-life information through them.

By joining the game and using an HT account, players acknowledge that its game-related messages may be reviewed by the host after the game and may contribute to the final recap and awards.

Once enough residents have volunteered, account assignments and final instructions will be sent privately.

I was hesitant to join any mafia games at first because I have not been able to spend as much time online recently as I used to, but with the 24 hour window for phases, I think I can be a reasonably active player.

I am very intrigued by these parameters with the assigned accounts and how it will translate to anonymity for previous styles of experienced players as well as allowing new players with little or no experience to join and participate without preconceived knowledge and possible targeting.

I will also include the caveat that although I am able to use use tools to discover account identities, I will not do so and if I did, Hood would be able to check administrator logs and see that I accessed any of these accounts so he can keep the game honest.

does it say that you cannot fake a role message?

During the Day, players may:

Discuss what happened during the Night.
Question other residents.
Share or fabricate role claims and results.
Form alliances and private conversations.
Decide who should face the Town’s judgment.

good to have you back playing, and this should be a fun feature. something i've always thought of trying. names can easily be renamed and reused for different themes if you decide to host in the future. that would be cool. i'd love to play without reputation lol.

ill change that. it might have been just a generic mafia rule that was carried over from other game that i had in place, i have no problem with that, i faked many a screenshot back in the day lol, even made a video of one so it looked real, just changing the HTML temporarily. . and i couldnt monitor that anyway since i wouldnt be in the chats.
ignore what is said there. ill edit it.

edited thanks for the feedback
