Join us in this mafia game with a twist: everyone chooses their own abilities! All rules and permutations are pre-defined below - so no nasty surprises from the mod halfway through the game
Minimum of 14 players required. I've put a lot of effort into this one, so hopefully we get the numbers! Do you have what it takes to survive the Apothecary's Experiment?

The air inside the apothecary was thick with the scent of crushed herbs and simmering tinctures. Shelves towered to the ceiling on every side, lined with vials of every shape and colour—liquids that glowed, smoked, and scintillated gently in the dim candlelight.
At the centre of the room stood the Apothecary - an elderly man, tall and gaunt, wrapped in layered robes stained by years of ointments and powders. His sharp eyes studied the group with intensity.
"A sign in the stars forewarned of your plight. Your plague-ridden Town has all but abandoned hope in its god for providence. At the behest of the stars, I invited you here offering an opportunity - a chance to learn the secrets of my craft. A chance to prove yourselves worthy. A chance for any among you to be chosen as the Apothecary’s apprentice.
"However," he continued, "the stars forebode of other omens. Omens of treachery. Omens of ill intent. Not all who would gather here would come in good faith."
At this, the arched doors swung closed, with a heavy clunk as they were barred shut.
"Among you are conspirators who seek not apprenticeship, but power. Rather than bringing healing and prosperity to the ailing Town, they would impose control and tyranny over them. These traitors have brought weapons into my apothecary, and they intend to seize my knowledge by force.
"Knowing all of this before your arrival, I made some preparations. Whether or not the pure-hearted among you would prevail, the stars did not reveal. Should your little Town - home to so much good yet harbouring so much corruption - be allowed to persist upon this land? Should I intervene to save, or to condemn? The universe will decide.
"I have settled upon an experiment. One in which the cosmos will have full sway over the destinies of both you and your Town."
The Apothecary had adopted a quieter, almost reverent tone. But as he continued, his voice became infused with an increasing fervour, bordering on fanaticism -
"I will prepare Potions that will ignite the struggle between the pure and the corrupt, test the morals of each individual, and seal the fate of your Town, with the infinite constellations of the universe as the final arbiter! What could be more just than this!?"
The group exchanged uneasy glances.
They had known the old alchemist was eccentric—feared, even—but nothing like this.
It seemed they had made a grave mistake in coming here, but, with the doors barred, there was nothing for it now but to listen for more details of the Apothecary's Experiment.
"Each Day, I, the Apothecary, will prepare a Display of Potions—mysterious brews whose consumption will enable remarkable abilities… heightened senses, subtle protections, or stranger gifts still. On any given Day, each participant must choose one bottle to Drink - yet caution is required: two hands reaching for the same vial will shatter the contents. And of course, with the foul company you will be keeping, one should always beware of poison!
"By Day, you must also debate, accuse, and condemn one among you to execution.
"Each Night, you may deal with one another as you see fit. I rest content that any atrocities unfolding within these walls will do so only with the warm endorsement of a benign universe.
"Choose carefully what you drink.
"Choose carefully who you trust.
"Because who will survive to see the end of this experiment, nobody knows save the stars..."
... and for the first time, the old Apothecary grinned.

Win Clauses:
- Mafia win if they eliminate the Town and Neutral(s).
- Town win if they eliminate the Mafia and Neutral(s).
- Neutral(s) win if they outlast all Mafia/Neturals and survive to final 5.

- If a tie occurs, the player who first reached that vote total is executed.
- Only the final Execution tally of the executed player will be revealed.
- In PM to host: DRINK a Potion from the Displayed options.
- Players who Drink the same Potion will instead 'collide', meaning neither gets the associated benefit. Collisions are anonymous. Players of differing speeds cannot collide (fastest player Drinks, others are told that someone else got there first).
- Players who fail to send a Drink action will be allocated a random Displayed Potion.
- If a Player successfully Drinks a Poisoned Potion, they will be informed immediately the following Night (Nx). If they do not Drink a Mithridate before the end of the next two Night phases (Nx+2), they will die.
- In PM to host: Perform day actions.
- Via Potions (only possible via Distortion Brew, Coercion Tonic, Persuasion Herb Tea, Transmutative Amalgam).
- Once per game, instead of Drinking, each Mafia member may Poison a Potion in the Display (max 1 Poisoned Potion per Day phase). If Poison remains in an ignored or collided Potion, it is wasted and announced to the group after the Execution.
- Send PMs to any alive players.
- Players must include Virtuosity98 in any private chats they create.
Night Phase:
- Forum thread closed. No PMs unless explicitly authorised.
- Any posts from players logged with a timestamp of 22:00 or later will be disregarded and deleted.
- In PM to host: Perform night actions.
- Via Potions (max 1 per Night, except via Psionic Fortificant).
- Each Night, the Mafia team will designate one member to perform the factional kill. In addition to any Potion action(s), this member may #Kill a target player.
- In PM to host: REQUEST 3x Potions for next day phase.
- The most-Requested Potions will be Displayed (Drinkable) during next Day phase.
- The number of Potions Displayed will initially be equal to the number of players remaining, minus 3. Once half the players have been eliminated, an extra Potion will be displayed (n-2).
- Potions cannot be Displayed on consecutive Days, except via Celestial Favour.
- All eligible Potions not Displayed will receive a +1 to their Request tally for future Days.

Potions:
The Apothecary is able to prepare any of the 35 Potions listed below. When a player Drinks a Potion, they gain the corresponding effect(s). The full list is found in Post#2 below.
Each player has an Alchemic Capacity of 3 /❶ Potions. If a player Drinks a /❶ Potion while 3 of their /❶ Potions' effects are still available, the oldest /❶ Potion immediately wears off (before the Night phase begins), and is replaced by the new /❶ Potion.
Each Potion can either be:
- ∞ Permanent (doesn't take up any Alchemic Capacity, effect remains indefinitely* or until Vanillified)
- Repeatable (takes up 1 Alchemic Capacity, effect remains available until Potion wears off or Vanillified)
- ❶ Single Use (takes up 1 Alchemic Capacity, effect available once only or until Potion wears off or Vanillified)
- Psychokinetic Concentrate and Distortion Brew have both a ∞ Permanent and a ❶ Single Use effect. Until the Single Use effect is used, the Potion will take up 1 Alchemic Capacity. Even if the Single Use effect is used or wears off, the Permanent effect will remain indefinitely.
