i had several out the ordinary goals for this game
1 - hopefully nobody die during the first few phases (some of us know what that's like)
2 - when a player dies - he is not totally out of the game - it's not the same level of involvement but at least there is some hope and a possibility of helping your faction
3 - encourage activity - must vote or xxx happens, must be active or xxx happens
4 - encourage players to chat with others that they may not have picked for themselves = new insights and relationships
5 - have the opportunity to win even if you faction does not - sometimes the luck of the draw puts you in with players who are not very active or helpful - so now you can double-cross them and still be playing to win
6 - trust but maybe not feel obligated to share all (your name) for alternate reasons
7 - no 1 or 2 players start the game overpowered - no automatic kill ability, or investigate, or protect - those things are available for all to get and have their choice on
8 - provide an opportunity to chat w others not in your chat room = forum 24/7
9 - players could plan ahead and be able to send coded messages to dead players on ways to help their faction or go to same chat room (one way info only but ?)
10 - and finally = i did not want to make the game too easy nor to be based on shear luck
