What stinks when living, but smells good when dead?

If this one is too easy, then try this riddle.

A man is sentenced. The judge says that he can make a statment. If it is true, then he will sentence him to four years in prison, if it false, than he will sentence him to six years in prison. After the man makes a stament, the judge decides to let him go free. What did the man say?

He should have said something which is neither true not false. Like "what i say now is not true"... What else, i cant think of any other..
