this is how an extended version of the germany 1900 map would looks like. i followed the real borders when creating territories and regions. in my opinion there are too many regions with no internal territories, similar to bulgaria map where all territories must be fortified. i am not a fan of this, i prefer italy map in terms of regions.

71 territories if i am not mistaken and 21 regions.

i think adding some ribers as impasables would he a good odea here.

Hey guys,

I have asked Hoodlum, whether there are some maps, that are in the system, but were not tested yet.

He found this old map don by Glanru. It looks very good and could be considered finished and ready to test.

I also added some region bonuses. And if you like the idea, i can add it ino the map in a proper way, so that it looks beautiful and fits the map design. This way we can have one without bonuses and one with bonuses.

Btw: Just imagine that they walked these roads by feet, with donkeys or horses and then, around 80 yaers later, they had nuclear bombs. And these territories were largerly white (european) and now largerly hispanic. Increadible shift in technology and genetic structure of the society/popupation in such a short time span. Probably the americans of the future will look like indians, iranians or iberians, mixed race people with brownish faces and indo-european blood and non-white people blood.

Also this map is historic and western-centered. Bishop once said we lack western-centred maps, cuz the majority of d12 players come from the western cultural sphere.

Btw: Adding Glanrus original map would be very easy and wont take time, cuz there are no regions and no bonuses. And it is a beautiful map. I can undestand why nobody added it earlier..... Such good work, shuld not become wasted and should be releazed to the public imo.

Me too I was trying to restore/update Glanru's unfinished job.

I was thinking at something on this line:
Trials of the West (draft) (click to show)
No change in gameplay.

The road connections in both Glanru's versions are a bit confusing. Rather than black/dark dotted lines I would have used white/light continued lines, more clear and more visible. For example does Santa Fe connects to Salt Lake City? Yes, no, maybe, I don't know... And what about Bozeman and Fort Bridge? Again it is not clear. The problem repeats several times.

Plus in my opinion each town should have a gray circle background (which will be then covered by the in-game troop markers). I don't like maps like Switzerland for example which have blank spaces where the game markers go. They look unfinished to me. Here, the roads sometimes connect inside the towns/circles, even worse. The idea is nice and the background pictures too, I would really like to save Glanru's job, but perhaps is better to restart it from scratch.

Dima, feel free to give it a try if you are confident you can do it. Personally I find it too hard to fix without having the image layers.

It's my manipulation of Glanru's version (2018), but there were problems that I couldn't solve. The city names are 'boxed' because I cut them from another layer. The b/w pictures on the background turned negative because I wanted the trails to be white, not black. Some connections are ambiguous, so the trails needed to be redone, at that point I gave up. How to remake the map saving the background pictures? I don't know, but Dima apparently managed to do that. The only problem for me in Dima's version is that it's all gray! In the first Glanru's version (2013) there was a very large frame of wood-like colors. I think: either a decently colorful map, either a gray map with a colored frame. I couldn't find the time to write this idea in the dedicated thread. Too many works in progress, too many discussions... I'll write this concept there.
