Extra connection?

After looking at some possible capital placements, I thought that it might be better to have an extra connection from - Cape York Peninsula - Solomon Islands

changed font back to original one (same as ocean font) (for psymon concern)
brightened the connection glow a bit more, darkened the dots too. for visibility issue (previous page)

I see them now Hood without zoomed mode.looking forward to trying some 6_9 caps on this map.. Like small maps, with what seems like to many players with little wiggle room.

That looks quite nice Hood, like ocean currents.

I think it looks like a fun little map to play on!

I will say that the saminess of the 2 bonuses is a little of a negative for me. But that's a very minor thing.

Is there any better name than 'Peninsula'? lol those kinds of names get me down :P

There's still the connection/path blocking/chokepoint problem. But it's a smaller map, so that's to be expected. The Goolburi/New Caledonia/Maui connection saves it for me.

I'd say play with the territories a little. Maybe take out Chatham? Make NZ a +1, maybe add a territory to the northern territory or western australia? Try and get away from the sameness of +2+2+2. Maybe add a connection line from Mulga to Patpa? Not NEEDED, but might open up the west a little.

naathim suggested it that it might open up the west a little. I think it does. i also like how it highlights travel around the 'Great Australian Bight' visually. I live in Australia and never heard of the bight.

I don't know why there is concern about the region bonus values, it should be, if Hood feels that he should raise some or lower some when they can officially be either, to what he feels will be the best for game-play or the most inviting hook for the map.
As long as it doesn't make the map unfair in most games, there shouldn't be a problem due to the variety of permutations of the drop and players decisions.

I don't like to see maps held up with no further input, creating an unnecessary "stand off" and a "spanner in the works" for the creative flow.

If you feel you are happy with the Region Bonuses Hood and you are sure that they are correct to The Guide, plus if they feel right for game-play, go with it!

I haven't got time to look at the Capitals right now, but that would be the most constructive thing to do right now, being that nobody seems to have any more concerns about this map.

I will send a PM to The_Bishop and ask for his expert eye on them for you now.

I always thought that australia looked like a dog (west) / cat (east)
I tell you what looks even more like a dog.... Ireland (a Scotty dog rotated).
We should make a map of Italy with Ireland next to it so that it looks like "a dog being booted".... kidding, I am a dog lover, not cats, I can't do cats!!
Or we should make a map of Italy & NZ together, so that it looks like "The Can Can"!

Okay here what I came up with. I studied the matter independently without looking at Hood's proposal but surprisely several are pretty similar.
However I respected the principle of all internal or all on the border.
2-3-4 (click to show)
5 to 9 (click to show)
For 2 players. Hood's proposal is good but maybe mine deserves to be tested, as I find it more appealing for some reasons.
Notice the 2 cap's seems close but they are 5 steps distanced same as in Hood's scheme.

3-4-5. I propose on-border cap's as shown in the image. Pretty similar to Hood's.

6 and higher. Cap's are the 6's with black background adding 1 more for each more player as in the image.
This map seems ideally made for having internal cap's for high number of players.

Nice map! Thanks Hood, I have been asking for an Australian map for long time!
Well this one is Australasia... even more, even better.

excellent, thanks bishop. yup the 2 player caps looks deceptively close, that's quite cool.

Thanks Bishop.

That 2p Cap setting looks very interesting and I think it will make this map popular for that setting.
The way I see it is, because they are both situated on the mainland and look closer than they are, strategic players will quickly form new strategies for this map, taking into account that the opponent will have an approximate 15 troop loss before arriving at their Cap, so a defensive stance will possibly win more games here on 2P Caps.
Of course there are other factors involved, such as decimation (inability to counterattack), but if an attack is early, that will rarely happen, because they'll still be able to place 4 troops next to the opponents Cap, which would have to be pretty much emptied in this case.

I have checked the graphics and can't find anything to adjust.... "spoil sport" getting it right!!
I only had to Optimise the main map & make the thumbnails and upload them, all the inputting was already done by Hood.
(just for info) When the cards were generated the wilds were associated to Daru & Jayapura.

Not only is this a really nice looking map, it is intuitive & well laid out.
You seem to have taken to map making at a really high level Hood... even input the map yourself.... Awesome job mate !

Congratulations Hood, another great map in Beta.

To all players: Please post here if there are any problems with the map and also all your good feedback about it.

I've just been watching some live games on this map and as I suspected, the colours and tone of this map are exceptional, they really look good on the D12 game page.
