The problem is, rick, that you will have a situation where one or more branches of the tournament are ready and know their finalist, while they have to wait a couple of years to know the other finalists.

I agree with matty about fixed cards and the time it will take to finish a game.
Im not entirely sold if the tournament will be double elimination with the settings fixed cards since a game can take up to a month to finish.
I suggest making the tournament simple elimination if people wish to play fixed cards because there is also a great chance that people will quit the tournament if it takes too long to finish and they have to play the same settings, map every time.
