@CosmicCharlie: As easy it is to agree with you, did you read the post from Dferguson above?

We want to encourage them to use the resign button instead of missing turns, yes. But we don't want to encourage them to just press resign at every game that starts with a bad roll.

I did read it, but I don't agree that the resign button will change the way or circumstances that those players quit or don't quit.

If they don't want to play the game and don't resign because it costs them tokens or for whatever reason, they most likely will either miss their turn or suicide anyways! I don't see how that is any better, and at least if they resign, the other players know their true intentions and won't waste any more troops attacking those players (when applicable). I see people skipping both of their turns from the get-go if they don't like their drop or have a bad roll on their first turn (and it's obvious what they are doing as their "last active" time keeps updating). I'd rather they just resign than make the rest of us wait. And don't you have to wait 4 or 5 rounds before resigning? So people can't just resign after a bad drop. They have to stick around for a few turns.

As for the other point that you want to make it "harder" to resign so everyone doesn't do it, most people here don't want to lose, whether it's by resigning or a traditional loss. So I don't think people will just resign for the hell of it because it's so "easy" to do. It stil costs you rankings/points/respect, whatever it is you are playing for here.

I personally don't care about tokens as I have 5,000 and don't use them often, but I have seen others complain of this, and that makes it a more difficult decision for them to resign or let their turn time out.

What I really don't agree with is that resigning shows up as a missed turn. I think that paints an inaccurate picture of a player. When you see someone's attendance as low, you think they are the type that constantly misses turns and it's a pain to play with those players.

But most of the people who resigns do it out of respect for the other players' time. Like I said, it paints an inaccurate picture of who that player is because they are missing their turn out of respect of others, not because they blew off the game.

PS sorry for the long reply...

I guess you have a point on that it should not show up as missed turns, especially because it already shows the #resigns on your profile.

However, if you really respect the other players, keep playing the game.

I'll look into making it not tally your missed turns but it's still going to affect your attendance score.

Well you can take the amount of resigns, multiply by 2 and minus this from their missed turn total. Not the hardest equation in the world

Dunno if this has been mentioned in this post already. I think the Resign button should have a "Are you sure you want to resign?" prompt, before it becomes effective. When rushing to add time, either in a sametime game or perhaps just heard the alert noise and you are a bit panicky to go to the 'Add Time' button (which is in the same Options tab) you could accidentally press that 'Resign' button.

A resign button confirmation checkbox? (Works better than a pop-up alert).

:) yup, even better.

Since this thread was resurrected, I thought I'd ask a question about resignations:

When a player resigns, do you have those next two turns to try and wipe them out and take their cards?

Hey hood. I've had that experience before. My mom asked me to help her move something, and i accidentally resigned from the game instead of adding time.

I added a confirmation checkbox to the resign button. It's not the most elegant solution, but it works and was easy to do this way.

Thanks Matty, this should help with 'miss-clicks'.

Now we wait for someone to find the way of resigning mistakenly once again :D
