To summarize where we are so far:
Those who agree with The_Bishop are himself and aeronautic.
That makes 2.
Those who've concluded that there was no teaming in that game are myself, nikeboix69, thaithai, dracarys, villain, MuzuaneAskari, Matty, and Antonis_xania.
That makes 8.
Those who gave their opinion but are still undecided are 4zaviola and tramadol.
I don't know what to make of bluebird because he gave reference to a different game but did not claim this game to be any evidence of cheating. I will not respond to his arguments here because that is not what this thread is about, but if anyone needs a satisfactory explanation, send me a PM.
The_Bishop, it seems that you are making two claims. The first is that both myself and Oliver made bad moves. The second is that because of these bad moves, we must be cheaters. I see lots of evidence for your first point, but hardly any for your second point.
I would also like to note that a large number of those who agreed that this game is no evidence of teaming also agreed that we made some bad moves.
Now, let's look at your first point. Did I make a bad move? You are posting a game that is a month old, I have finished a lot of games since then, and I'll admit that I cannot give you the exact thoughts I had. But I can try to reconstruct them. I will not comment on whether or not Oliver made a bad move, only how I responded. When the game was down to three players, I decided to kill Fendi because I had a wildcard so I knew that I would get a turn in two turns in a row. And since Oliver couldn't attack from his capital, I wouldn't need to worry about mine being smaller for a short while. Additionally, my calculations were with average dice, and my actual rolls were not so great (kill 26 lose 29). If I had over 20 on my capital after that kill, I don't think Bishop would be able to make the point that it was a terrible move. The 5 cards I got from Fendi were worth 18 men at that point in the game, BUT she also had 7 men sitting within reach which I used to fortify, I had one less enemy, Oliver was still unable to reach me, and I had a larger turn bonus due to the increased lands.
I don't remember what Oliver's turn bonus was but I do remember that it was enough to kill me before we'd be able to get enough cards for another set. And I knew that I couldn't win by using my capital to attack because his was growing much faster than mine. Thus, the only way to win was to increase my turn bonus as well while trying to prevent his. That is why I blocked in my capital; if I hadn't I wouldn't have survived long enough to use it in attack.
So, maybe I shouldn't have killed Fendi, but maybe it was a good move. I have been completely transparent with all that I can remember thinking during that game. I will let each of you decide for yourself whether the game could have been played better.
But that is not the point! I could easily find at least one game (probably much more than one) from each and every one of you where you too made a move that is less than optimal, maybe even causing you to lose the game. Everyone makes a mistake once in a while! So does that mean it is worth a forum post like this?
Is lifeinpixels a cheater?Bishop, you would have no reason for posting your argument that I made a bad move if you were not also claiming that because of it, I am a cheater. This is the meat of your argument. But let's look at whether or not you have any reasons for this claim. From what I can tell, you reference both the moves in the game as well as things I have said. I will take a look at both of these.
Regarding the moves in the game: You are saying that I wouldn't have made such a poor move unless I had specifically agreed to give the game to Oliver, or at least wait until it's just him and myself to battle it out. Does this make any sense? Could I pull up a game where you've made a bad move, and claim that you were teaming with the guy who benefitted? Additionally, there's no reason I would cheat in just a solitary game. Give me a list of games where Oliver and I have played together in which teaming is evident, and you would have a stronger case. As it is with questionable moves in 1 game, you have none.
Regarding the stuff that was said in the chat: firstly do not expect me to defend what Oliver said. We did not team, nor did we send messages to coordinate attacks, so I should not be held responsible for his remarks.
You did not respond to Matty's comments, but they were very reasonable statements. I will list them here because they accurately sum up my reasons:
- Saying capitals are boring and still joining them so now and then (for example because there are some super awesome players in the game, like TheBishop, Oliver, Fendi, name them) is something I do as well.
I don't like capitals as much, for exactly the reason stated in the chat, but still play them so now and then.
I do not see how this is a reason of cheating.
- Saying that the game suddenly got interesting is a fact, because that's really what happend, the game got very weird (== interesting) all of a sudden.
- The fact that he only considered the fight between him and Pixels can be very easily explained by the fact that by that time Fendi was already killed (may she rest in peace).
- Saying that being nice to other ppl helps in risk is a fact, especially if you play with newbies. Sometimes they leave early and try to balance the game just before they leave. If they like you, they will attack you less than that if they hate you.
- Saying that there are alot of other ppl that are good in risk as well, even if they have a higher score, is a very decent and polite thing tp say.
Apart from that, it's also a smart thing to say, because it's always good if ppl underestimate you - why do you think so many ppl hide their rank?
To conclude:Bishop, you have a strong argument that my play was bad. I will let others decide whether or not it was a good move, but proving that I made a bad move is pointless. If I cared to spend enough time, I could probably find many games where you've made poor moves as well. Does it prove anything? No!
You have almost no argument that I cheated by teaming. You do not explain how a poor move proves teaming, other than claiming how else could a top player make such a bad move other than cheating? Your thousands of words mask your inadequacy to tie these two simple points together.
Most players who've responded agree with me too; even if the move was bad, it does not prove teaming. The only one who agreed that this game proves that I was teaming is aeronautic which totals your supporters to 2, while four times as many people agree with me.
So, can we say the matter is concluded? You've asked for a popular vote and you have gotten your answer. Both sides have been thoroughly explained, and I expect that you will direct any further assertions at me via PM.
