Colors:
From the start it is hard for me to tell what colors on the map are mine. I suggest making the color of the territory the player's color, and have a link to the side with country bonus'. After enough games the "bonus countries" won't be needed, because your players will know what countries are worth having.

Fortify Countries:
This may be a lack of knowledge, but I couldn't figure out how to fortify more than one territory during a turn. Is there a way to fortify more than one territory per turn?

For your suggestion, though that would be pretty sweet, it is very very difficult and I would have to use programs other than what I am using, such as flash, and even then it would take quite a while to load each game and be open to many types of hacks. So unfortunately we have to stick with the hard to see colors, trust me when I say your eyes will get used to picking them out. Perhaps sometime in the far far future.

The country bonus on the side will be considered, I would like to know what others think about that. I think the only reason we built it into the map design was because our competition was doing it this way as well. Perhaps it allows more design to the maps. Sometimes you get very attractive country bonus lists.

With fortify countries there are 3 options a game creator has:
Adjacent - Can only move once and only to an adjacent territory
Chained - Can only move once but to any country connected to it via other countries (like a chain)
Unlimited - You can move as many times as you want

If you played one of Webnets games I have noticed he has been making them all without cards and Adjacent, so you can only move once to a neighboring country afterward.

I really like the idea of the colors, and while it wouldn't be possible with how things are currently setup it would be good to consider alternatives to help make the country ownership more visible. Perhaps instead of having a hollow circle it could be filled with color? Or maybe a glow to go along with it?

I would rather see information like the player list, or chat on the side instead of the country bonus. The country bonus isn't taking up any room being built into the map how it is.

I think I have yet to play a game where you can move more than once when fortifying.

If the circles were filled with color, that would make it much more difficult to tell countries apart, especially on maps where the territories are very small. In some cases, having the circle filled in might make it too difficult to see the territory behind it.
Especially on maps such as the Big World map 4myGod is working on, and many more unique maps I've been thinking of, they would not be possible without the color showing through the center of the circles.

It's yet to be determined how playable those maps will be. I would guess with so many territories that it wouldn't be very strategic and would be boring. I agree with JoeOrange, he showed me a screenshot of another game where the countries were highlighted and it's much easier to see. I realize the complications with doing that here, perhaps there are other solutions.

As difficult as it may be (I struggle with it on my owns sites), you need to try to be open to suggestions like this. I realize that you may be open to it and I'm not intending to just say you're not being open to the idea, but I think it's worth investing in, don't you?

Yeah for sure, I play with new color ideas all the time and if you have a good one for sure we will use it. If you want you can try other ideas as well, take one of our maps into photoshop and play around.

Having it highlight countries would surely be awesome, however it's just impossible on a website, perhaps on a downloadable game or if we were willing to cut the amount of users we want the website to be available to down.

We could really only do it 2 ways, flash, I can't do that, I just don't have the skill yet. Flash also would open us up to a whole new world of bugs and hacks that I can't fix.

The other way would be to have images for every territory on the map so that when a player owns that territory it shows the image, That would be 10 colors x 43 territories for the classic map. The load time on that would be very heavy.

I have sat down and considered the colors many many times, we previously had colored numbers, but I felt it was hard to see. I am always open to new ideas, if you can figure out a way to make them work, because I have spent days thinking about it and couldn't.

As far as colored in circles, I have tried that before the opened circle, and it just didn't look good.

I had the same concern about not being able to pick out my territories on the map initially, but after a few games it became quite easy to see what was mine.
I can't see the territories being colored in to denote who owns it ever working out. It might be possible if there were only a map or two, because then you would know what the bonuses were, but since there are going to be lots of maps, there's no way to know all of them.
