Private Message Spam

I have been spammed twice in the last couple of weeks by random people I do not know. Once was an advertisement for some other ugly risk site, and just today Steenima randomly messaged me with nonsense.

Has there been an increase in site spamming all around or is it just me?

a lot of us also got the ad. but i haven't heard of anyone else getting random messages from steenima.
