Hi folks,

We're finding that Capitals games rarely last more than a few rounds because of the adoption of a fallen player's troops; generally as soon as one falls the exponential gain in strength is unstoppable. Could we have an option where once a capital is taken and the player defeated, their remaining troops become neutral? I think this will prolong games and offer a different dynamic post- first defeat

Many thanks,

It's an interesting suggestion, but I wonder if many people would play this suggested version of capitals? The capitals gamemode is an extreme version by design. High-stakes, all-or-nothing. Part of the incentive to voluntarily take on such a huge battle and destroy another player's capital can often be the territories that would be gained afterwards. Removing this incentive might lead to more stalemates. Moreover, and probably more importantly, a large part of the strategic intrigue of capitals endgames derives from the ability to 'block in' somebody else's capital with your own territories, thus dissuading them from destroying your own capital.

Basically, I'm not sure that the suggested modified version of capitals you propose would be all that popular. Then again, I'm not a regular capitals player myself :)

Well at my level I'd say we never reach that far in the game to experience some of those qualities! Typically an alliance is made to target the weakest player, and whoever lands the final blow goes on to quickly win the game. But to be clear, I'd see it implemented as an advanced option to rather than a unique game mode.
