I think it's annoying when you join last in a 9p game, and the only colour available is the one you hate.
I would like to have some more choice, this would possibly also help a bit in 8/9p team games to distinguish 'them' from 'us'.

Our current 9 colours:

The twelve colours I propose:

P.S. I haven't invented them, those colours are already saved somewhere in the system.

good idea!
btw, will 10-12 player games be possible in the future? i saw you marked the rus, nga toa & bulgaria maps as playable for 9p+. and now you propose new colors. so maybe 10-12 p games are planed in the future? would be cool!

also brown and pepermind could be other color options!

No sorry, currently there's no plan to extend the numbers of players to 10 or 12, but maybe one day there will be a plan for that.

I'm proposing to add more colours only for having more choice when joining games, just that.

If possible, how about allowing each player to assign colours to themselves and their rivals from the existing (or slightly extended) colour palette? A personalised view.

So, I can be orange in every game, whether I create the game or not. And I can assign specific colours to my closest rivals and biggest threats. It has the added benefit of forcing players to refer to handles/names in the game chat rather than colours. :-)

This is something that another platform offers. (I trialled that site before settling on this one.) That site offers too many colour and texture and shape choices, IMO, so I suggest sticking fat with the D12 (or slightly extended) colour palette as it works very well with the maps.

Yeah, Major Command way is pretty much practice and also quite genial, in fact I've never seen it in other game sites. However I do not want us to copy things from others, I would prefer to elaborate our own way, according to our taste and creativity. Here at D12 we are more 'classicist', therefore we are bounded to the old way, where people argue about their favourite colours; just like in a real board game! Well yes, sometimes players are called (or referred to) by colour (not by name), this also happens on real board; when I play with my friends in fact I tend to call them 'Red' and 'Green' (or whatever colour), even if I know them since 20 years ago; I think it's fine.

P.S. I consider MC (Major Command) as a friend website, not as a rival, so I think we can mention it openly.

I like the idea, but I'd go further and add more. Added a light/dark for the colors, added tan/brown, darkened purple, added gray (could be white if concerned about neutrals). Didn't bother making it pretty, just wanted to show the possible 14 colors I could think of that made sense.

White and grey will be an issue with neutrals and capitals not to mention the white regions on maps like Westeros. I would imagine that brown and tan may also have some blending issues with some of the maps.
The_Bishop wrote:
Indeed, Pntbttr is right. Exclude white, grey and brown.
There's no need to have Maaany colours, just a few more than 9.

Definitely don't want shades of the same colour in any game. That's a recipe for confusion and error.

What about team games? What if a team picked a single color and the two players just got different shades?
The_Bishop wrote:
Different shapes is something hard to do.
The more we keep our requests simple, the more we have chance to see them realized/implemented.
Here I'm just asking for making available a couple of new colours, nothing else.

@Pntbttr::That argument relative to team games, has been discussed here:

I support the original proposal to add the three colors and make purple darker. I also still like the idea of a peach/salmon/coral/apricot.

Whoops sorry, Pnt, I misread.. You said "different shades" (then yes I agree!) but I had wrongly read "different shapes"...

Oh, yeah different shades seems appropriate for teams because if you do get them confused you still attacked the same team. I suppose there could still be confusion on which territories are yours and which are your teammates, but that seems like less of a concern. I was a little confused why the thread you linked to didn't have different shades lol.
