Multiple accounts allowed?

As the topic title says, I'm curious about the official stance for multiple accounts. I've discussed it with 1 admin, but I remain somewhat uncertain about the situation. The current rules for this game/website say the following about this topic: https://dominating12.com/tutorial/rules [i]1. If one player has so many troops and cards that they will probably win unless the other players work together to balance the game then cooperation is not only allowed but completely necessary in order to obey the 6th rule, play to win. That being said, players cannot work together to make sure that the current strong player loses. They should only work together to balance the game to give multiple players a chance to win again. It takes experienced players to balance the game properly. Please do not harass new players because they tried to balance the game but went too far and caused the strong player to lose the game. Simply point out their math error. Usually they fail to calculate card value and don't realize that they weakened the strong player just enough for the next player to kill them for their cards. Teaming is hard to prove because there are many instances where it's a good idea to be friendly to your neighbor, especially if there is a third player who gets a bigger bonus than the two of you. In such a circumstance breaking each others regions would only help the third player. This is not teaming, just smart play. Using private messages to work together in a game is also not allowed. If you want to get a temporary ally it must be done in the game chat for all to see. Temporary alliances should only last a few rounds. After a few rounds you will have to end the formal truce in the game chat. You can decide to continue to not attack the other player in hopes that they won't attack you. If an Admin reviews a game and has decided that there was obvious teaming then both players will receive a warning. The game will be canceled and any points that were awarded will be returned.[/i] [u]I have underlined the part which makes it fuzzy to me.[/u] At first sight, it might appear as if multiple accounts are just never allowed - no questions asked. However, then by elaborating on two cases, (1) playing with them in 1 game (and probably have an alliance with yourself?) and (2) for circumventing limitations that are installed upon freemium accounts as opposed to premium accounts (e.g. the 5 free games/day limit), the thought to me rises that it's just these two events which are not allowed; having another account for other reasons might as such be fine. I can fully appreciate that these 2 distinct events are not allowed (with respect to multiple accounts), does this however also mean that if one doesn't take part in such activities, it is fine to have more than 1 account? One might e.g. wish to have another for training purposes, or to take part in tournaments? I've played 2 games with new players I think - they both seemed to have valued and appreciated the introduction. Most of the accounts I messaged, have not been online since I messaged them... which made me think about the type of accounts they are. Maybe multiple accounts? Banned and can not login anymore? Or perhaps fed up with something about the game/website? Yesterday I played a game with a new player on the website and he said the complete environment isn't intuitive at all in his opinion. I encouraged him to make a topic about it, as maybe some slight changes will help greatly in keeping new players interested to keep playing (there really are a lot of new sign ups/month, yet only a limited amount of people seems to stick around...). Your logic is that they didn't get back to you because of a problem. That problem could easily be that they don't know how to check messages, or that they came, tried it out, and then left to never come back. But as Hood said, there is NEVER a reason to have more than one account. You should have stopped with the headline, no need to write that long of a post.

There are a few reasons for multiple accounts, some that I can think of: 1. Site management. For example, the [user]admin[/user] account - this was created to stop ppl from being able to register as admin. It's sometimes also used by admins to send messages or place newsposts. 2. Testing. For example: [user]NotCireon[/user]. As the name does not suggest, this is Cireon. Sometimes it's necessary to test something on this site with an account that's not an admin or just to have a second account to test a quick 2p game. 3. Teaching. For example: [user]Coach-Fendi[/user]. Back in the days when it was hard to return points and pretend a game never happened (at least rank-wise speaking), so there were other ways to get a newbie into a game without losing/gaining points. Nowadays, if you want to teach a newbie some things and you need a pointless (haha) game, just ask an admin if he wants to return points afterwards (and be sure to note in chat that points will be returned afterwards). If the admin agrees (and since you're a nice guy (s)he probably will) you can just do that. If I missed something and you really have a good reason for a second account - just ask. If you're a reliable guy and your reason is sound, you'll probably be allowed. But If you don't have a good (and approved of) reason, don't make a second account B|

Keep in mind that some examples Matty listed are for the purpose of something other than playing regular games as would be the case for any of the reasons one could come up with for having additional accounts. There is no reason any member of the site should have more than one account to play games. Two of the biggest reasons why normal site members are only allowed one account are; 1. it skewers the points/ratings system. If you are a high ranked player and I am not and I beat you, I should get the points I deserve for it but if I play against a higher ranked player who is using different accounts, the rating system becomes even less accurate and unfair to others who play you. 2. The most common use of additional accounts will be to cheat or circumvent site restrictions, not for legitimate reasons as Matty stated. The arguments will be never ending when we catch players who are in fact cheating or circumventing the site rules by having more than one account. That is just far too much work to try and deal with and will cause far more problems for no reason. It is difficult enough trying to explain to someone that not swearing actually means you are not allowed to swear and they still don't get it or think that it should apply to them. Can you imagine the convoluted excuses players are going to come up with for having 2 or more accounts and why it is needed? It is not needed.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, or I made it unnecessary complicated/cluttered by writing so much... :p My goal here was to [u]find out whether it's allowed or not[/u], for whatever reason. What would already help for me (and maybe others too? dunno), is if it was written less 'ambiguous' - Just state that multiple accounts aren't allowed, without elaborating on 2 cases for which it makes sense to disallow multiple accounts (as that made me think it's just those 2 cases that aren't allowed, yet if you do something else, it's no biggy...). Then the second part of my 'essay' just explains how the thought even popped up for me (it was that + then the same time tournament popped up in the forum and I would perhaps consider joining it with a new account, however do not intend to do so with this account - I'm a nerd with numbers/stats; sue me :D don't want to influence my current stats too much (which is statistically inevitable, if i were to join)). The last part even goes a bit... out of bounds :< Thinking of overall improvements for the game to attract and bind more new players. There is however nowhere any malicious intent with the question and I am fine with the answer as provided here. I suppose the 'reason/use' of a second account (for me) would be to play more carefree with respect to rating. One might see this as skewering the rating/points system and to a certain extent I can understand the logic. Nevertheless, I see no harm in it. One remains free to decide who s/he plays against - if one isn't willing to play against a low rated account, don't do it (I appreciate the added difficulty for games with >2 players). Anyhow, such an extra account would quickly rise/fall to a 'correct' rating, as fit for the player, so meh... Think of the added benefit/s; people often complain that (live/tournament) games aren't filling quick (enough (for their liking)). If one were allowed to have a 2nd account, one might just join whatever game (provided one has time/desire). So yeah, could be that people don't know how to check messages (would surprise me - they go from white to yellow - they 'pop'), or came and tried it out (I only message people who played 0 games - many of these people remain on 0 games) to then never come back and/or reply (would also surprise me... but heck, I can be wrong). So yeah.... most logical thought for me was to just assume they got banned and couldn't login anymore? Regardless of that... Multiple accounts allowed? i didn't need to read on. the answer i gave this time was bold and direct. the one i gave you in private was just us having a good ole time, a bit of banter where you write me a novel about a terrible question, (multiple accounts allowed) and then i give you an answer in a terrible way. it ranks right up there with. Are we allowed to cheat? I know you have asked before whether you could have another account to learn sametime games. No need. you can use the one you have.

I've 'accidentally' played 2 of those games sometime early on and didn't consider it an enjoyable game-type. However, due to great positive attention/attitude towards this gametype from other (experienced) players, both in the forum as in chat, I've remained somewhat intrigued by it - watched a few live games between good players but remained on the same view. Hood while I got you here or other admins here! how exactly are you guys checking if someone says it’s there brother or wife’s account that it’s in fact there brother or wife and not just lieing to you?? Because yes I played under 5-10 1v1 games on another account before I decided to ask of it was okay! And it turned into a huge deal! In my opinion I said sorry I was very honest about it gave the name of the account! Was never my intention to cheat at all I’ve been on this site since 2010 premium idk how long or how many times! I’ve played here when maybe only 10 people played live! I’d never ever cheat! I just think I am being punished big time for something I was honest about! Soo back to the question I should of just said it wasn’t related to me but its my brother or wife and nothing would happen/ how do you prove that it’s in fact 2 different people on the same IP address??

If anyone told you that, then they would be telling those who do intend to cheat, how to evade detection.

Id never cheat it’s just how would they know! I know there accounts out there that are playing under the same up address I wanna know how they verify it’s 2 different people I’ve already asked and know it’s against the rules so I won’t do it again but I only got caught because I asked! I also never played both accounts at the same time or in same game or against one another or same tournament! I wouldn’t do that that’s cheating

this behaviour is infact cheating. cheating the points system, and a smack in the face for players who gave up on being general or the dominator for their joy of playing 1v1 games. too bad their isn't a 1v1 separate ranking, so then we would get a better overall ranking for multiplayer games. and maybe different dominators, actual dominators. too bad that players have to limit their gaming as they get higher rank, so they can be competitive in the dominator games or be a general, but that's how the system is and i cant do anything about it. but i can keep an eye on this activity. don't worry about it. fixed. account locked, and your opponents got their due points chur

I have two accounts - (or at least i used too ,if its removed). Mind i never played any games with and its called farspaceplace2, so not really a secret. It was back with the server migration, and i was one of those who couldnt lock in, with my normal one. So i used it to check up or something - cant remember. Did u catch that one?
