read the live chat today.. one player cursing about a S/Murder from a newbie, have seen this complaint many times..then that player after cussing him out ,types in (he should be banned)...Now this is just wrong from both sides..the newbie does not know any better, and the vet player is just going to discourage him and possible he may never return.

so im suggesting a BootCamp for all new members joining D12..many games have this to help teach you how to play a game..so why not this one?..50 games mabe with other new players untill they grasp the basics..and this would be a great place to teach them the most important part...the site RULES..also u could have some vet players who are willing to join their games and help teach them and encourage them to play fair and smart.

lets hold onto new membership...not drive it away

 my 2 cents worth!

Now part two: who are willing to train players?
I know Thorpe and Fendi have done so in the past.

But yes, ppl should shout at the guys with officer ranks that still suicide, not at the persons that have played 2 games.

It would annoy the heck out of me to have pop ups entering a game, just like new programs annoy me telling me the basics of things I know all about.
There have been many discussions about training and they all seem to conclude with, experience is the best teacher & good Moderation keeps cussing & threats under control.
There have been discussions about 'pointless' games, which would be ideal if anybody wanted training.

You should ask Fendi or Thorpe (Thorpe trainer is still around sometimes) how they did it. But basically they put in chat: "if you want training in risk, send me a message and I can arrange some training games".

Or however they formulated it. That way you annoy noone with a popup while they think they already know, and you trian ppl that actually like to get some advanced hints.

If you put in the chat a phrase like: "This is a training game, NO POINTS WILL BE AWARDED (or they will be reversed later)" and you send me a message with the link then I will return the points (and other statistics).

That means both the newbies and the trainers will not loose unnescessary points.
And yes, pointless games will be a thing once the rewrite is done, but for now we'll do it this way.

Provide him with this link: http://www.dominating12.com/forum/?cmd=topic&id=1379

That explains why you should not make low probability moves just because 'it is my ownly chance'.
ANd of course, be nice when providing him with the link, otherwise he won't read it :)

This is why I still play live games with no restrictions. It helps with identifying new players, welcoming them to the site and helping them learn how to play.

Yup I will join a game with anyone. The only way to learn is by playing so give them game time against you. Surely we can't be upset if they do things that cause losses in games, they are learning.... hopefully. If you are then you are obviously farming these players so shame on you!! :P If you aren't farming then back your ability to gets those points back in other games. Otherwise, give them feedback and ideas and strategies and its up to them to take it on board and improve. If they don't they won't be around for long anyway

The worry for most players that want to help, is that they dont want to lose so many points, losing against a noob. For those older players that rage about noob tactics, shame on you. you joined the game or didnt put a point limit on it. I think a tokens game (pointless) game option is a good idea as mentioned before. noobs need tokens, and players with plenty of tokens, who will likely have high points can play games against noobs without that fear.

it would be good to have some other things to purchase with tokens for vet players to give them incentive to host or join token games other than to be helpful.

Token pool idea
eg: token game costs 20 to join for each player. 5 player game, the pool is 100 tokens. It's a good incentive for noobs to try and win so that they can uprank. and if there was an incentive for pro players to play them..like maybe buy some colorful badges..it would be fun. i suppose they should be expensive :)

as long as the idea promotes still trying your best to win. we wouldnt want the pointless games to be a suicide fest..although that could be something fun that vets with plenty of tokens could do for a fun game lol.

btw, good idea hammer. even risk vetrens that i introduce here struggle a little bit at first while getting use to the interface and different type of settings unfamiliar to them. Pop ups can be annoying but i think we need them for a players first, CAPS, SAMETIME, TEAM GAME, ADVANCED CARDS GAME. where they cant join them unless they read quick instruction on the pop up, or have to unlock that mode or something. It just gives a new player some awareness of settings.

i dont mind..the dice take more of my points then the noobs ever will lol ;)

but yes having a pointless game setting to use would imo really help i think more vets would help out if it didnt cost them so many points..or in settings have a tab for reduced points for training games. the vet would loose same as amount as he would normally gain from noobs.

i think u would see more vets playing noobs..prolly even get a few laughs to..it would be more enjoyable to the vet if he wasnt worried about his points..and is still able to make a few for his training efforts..
