SMALLER/CROSSES (3)

Alright, i needed to re-do the map in many parts to make the smaller version more or less good looking, cuz the size reduction destroyed the proportion of many elements of the image.
I implemented almost all feedback, except i think the terrotory name placements - i guess i havent changed them, but its not important. i can do it later, it doesnt take much time.

I personally like the original, cuz the playing area itself is lenghtly/stretched, so making the image less tall makes it look worse. Imo all proportions and spatial distribution of gaming/decorative elements are also better in the original. But i tried to chanhe the new version in a way that the proportions & spatial distribution of elements still looks good and the feedback points are also executed. And its good for Mobile phone view. And we also have the GOT map that has unusuall size, so maybe an exception could be made here aswell, but its not on me to decide.

There is also a version with crosses. I tired it, but i still it somehow look off. Check it out yourself. I think the map looks less "harmonious" with the scattered crosses.

Other: regarding visuals/colors: well i tried to pick a violet/blue color style, cuz, well, i think it looks good (i like cold colors like lilac, purple, pepermint, silver and maybe brown and i dont rly like warm colors, at least not now). It also gives the map a little unique looks and make it more to stand out from other maps. It also gives it some "character". If you always use the same/similar color combination, it get boring. I think having some artistic freedom in this regwrd isnt that bad.

regarding text: well, i see text/letter (size, color, form, opacity, writing style) as an important design part of the map. It aims to underline the character and style. I looked at the middle age manuscripts ant took some inspiration from them. I added this medieval archaic text (as often as i could lol) to give the map a little "maniscript & map" feeling (ofc with cold/lilac colors).

I edited your post for you to include all 3 images. In my opinion, the 2nd and 3rd versions are both big improvements on the first. The crosses in version 3 are nice looking and thematic, but possibly could be better placed. Maybe have another go placing them? Version 2 is also nice though. Let's see what others think!

I would say #2, or also #3 but with the crosses being a little smaller. Nice idea on the crosses, because they make it easier and immediate to understand the special bonuses. Well, and I liked the title as it was in #1. Sorry if it sounds complicated, that's my honest thoughts.

I like the Jerusalem crosses :) Nice work on those! Now the red crosses seem a bit blurry and not well outlined because the Jerusalem ones are so sharp and well outlined - do you agree?

Yes, good work on the red crosses too. For the record, I prefer the title as it is in this post, centralised and a little smaller than it used to be. In my opinion, the graphical work on this map can be considered complete. Are there any concerns gameplay-wise? What about capitals placements?

I think the only residual concern is the height of the map - it is really tall still. But I don't think that issue alone should disqualify such a beautiful (in my opinion) and historically-thematic map from being implemented onto the site. Do the other cartographers agree?

okay, i am haply that this version is fine! i must say, that i also tend to prefer this version.

btw, regarding the size propprtions: i checked out France, North America, Brazil and the two GoT maps and they have almost the same proportions as this map, basicly a square.

Map 3. I’ll vote for that in the poll , especially because this site needs a voting app like that.
I think the 2 cross symbols are supposed to be in the bottom box’s that say “for holding all” .
Am I reading “outremer” ?  ..I don’t get it.
The letter C of “Crusader” bothers me a little, it doesn’t look like an C, also the year 1000 a.d. could be darker outlined.
