I have a lot of concerns about this map. Please take it just as my opinïon - perhaps others will agree with it or disagree with it. Just because a map can be made, it doesn't mean it should be made.
My main concerns:
- In the past, semi-fictional maps such as Saturn, Caribbean Dual, Hawaii Dual, and even Solar System have not proven to be popular at all. I see no reason why a triple British Isles map would be any different (and that is me speaking as an Englishman!)
- The graphical standard for maps on this site is very high, and in my opinion neither Bishop's nor Dima's versions meet that standard yet. I feel that Dima's version is the better version at the moment, though it too has a lot of pixelation and the colour scheme is unappealing (again, just my opinion!). A lot of work will be needed to make a map that will probably prove to be unpopular.
If despite these concerns you are determined to continue development, here is some further feedback:
- The map is very chokepoint-y, as Bishop has said previously. Not necessarily a bad thing though. Can make choosing capitals locations very difficult, but we have seen this with other small maps as well.
- The conflicting triple territory bonus and full region bonus might lead to stale gameplay, as Bishop has also pointed out.
- The idea of adding a 25th territory in the middle to facilitate connectivity is in my opinion a further unnecessary deviation from the true geography, and will not add to the appeal of the map.
- Lots of territory names would need altering:
---- S. Ireland to Republic of Ireland
---- Northumbria to Northern England
---- Mercia to Central & Southern England
---- Cornwall to West Country
- I would alter the N. Ireland border to reflect it's real international border. The Irish divide is very important politically and socially.
- I would suggest changing the bonuses as follows: +2 for holding a trio of like territories, +3 or even +4 for holding an entire region. The reason being, that on small maps people tend to like slightly higher region bonuses. Testing would be able to reevaluate whether or not these bonuses are too high.
- On Dima's version, the Cornish flag would need replacing with the English flag (St. George's cross), and the UK and ROI flags would need rotating correctly (right now the Irish flag seems more like the Indian one

)
- There are aspects of Bishop's version that I like more (less cluttered, more varied colours), but the slanted banners and text, as well as the bonus explanations just give the map a low-quality feel unfortunately. Sorry if this sounds harsh.
In conclusion, if I were in charge of the site I would say that the map should be discontinued, as I don't feel that it can contribute positively to the portfolio of maps that are currently on offer at D12. If the many other changes can be made to improve the quality, I'm still not sure the map will be successful despite the efforts needed.
