Points received and lost

I've been tracking how points are awarded and lost; and please correct me if I'm wrong.

So, it starts with 20 points per player. The winning player receives the sum of all points lost by all the defeated players. The more players in the game, the more points the winner is awarded. For example, in a 4 player game, the winner can expect to receive 60 points (p - 1) * 20. A 3 player game, winner receives 40 points.

Now the player that looses last looses the least. But the calculation of how much each defeated player looses is a bit of a mystery. In a 3 player game, I've observed the first defeated player lost 23 point and the last player lost 17. The winner was awarded the sum of those players lost points, 40 points. But that was a Fog of War game and I couldn't see details of that game log.

Now in a 4 player game I won, I received 63 points. The defeated players lost 22, 21, & 20 in the order they were defeated. So, where did the extra 3 points come from? One explanation is that some of these players missed turns, so maybe they were dinged a point each time they missed one.

But, I could be wrong. In my game, one player got kicked for timing out. I defeated the other two.

What I can deduce is that the winning player is awarded more for winning a larger player count game. A defeated player that lasts longer in a game looses less points than one that is defeated earlier, but not by much.

If you want to increase your rank faster, join higher player count games and win. If you feel you're going to loose, hang in there longer than other players and you'll loose less.

Is there a document that describes how points are received and lost?

More end of log info from a five player game:
8 Nov, 13:21 skarni won the game.
8 Nov, 13:21 yourego has been defeated by skarni.
8 Nov, 13:21 bourquenic lost 12 points.
8 Nov, 13:21 yourego lost 23 points.
8 Nov, 13:21 svinto lost 14 points.
8 Nov, 13:21 skarni received 63 points.
8 Nov, 13:21 vikingodm lost 14 points.

This is odd. Yes, all the lost points (63) are awarded to the winner skarni. However, the lost points don't spread out as predicted. Player yourego lost 23 points, almost twice as many as any of the other players, and he's the last to be defeated (as you can tell). And the log tells that all the other losers did not leave the game by being defeated, but were kicked for missing too many rounds; they lost 12 and 14 points, which doesn't seem fair.

Here's the game URL, just click on the Game Log tab:
Game Log 64412

So, what's going on here?

It depends on what rank you against other players. The greater the difference, the more points you can lose. I think it is that way, but someone may correct me if I'm wrong.

The stronger a player is, the more points you will earn to kill him.

So beating lots of noobs is nice, but you dont get that much points.

Beating me will give you some nice points, but beating people like Fendi, NoXoN, 1771, Thaithai or Vexer is the real deal :)

Of course, games with more ppl grant more points.

If you really want loads of points, win the dxii game, 8 supergood players :)
But well, you'll need lots of points to get there I guess.

Please note that the order in which ppl are killed doesnt matter, purely the amount of points they have.

That explanation helps a lot. I just lost a 4 player game to Crazybluffer who is a Sargent with 1700 points against Privates and he only received 47 points instead of the 60 I thought he would.

Thorpe, there are more players that are really good, I just named a couple of them I see most. You are really good, but I rarely see you in games, so thats why I didnt name you right away :)

Quick question which relates to this thread. If a player gives up and misses two turn and you are not able to defeat him in that two turn, does the player still lose the same amount of points?

Scenario 1 - player plays to the end of the game
Scenario 2 - Player leaves games cause he knows he is going to lose. The player is kicked after two turns.

Does this player lose the same amount of points in each scenario??
