I just figured out that having a bunch of messages in your inbox will causes some lag. It creates extra work for the server every time you check your messages.

And the more messages you have sent and received, the longer it takes the system to find out how many new messages you have, which effects how long the user bar at the top of the screen takes to load.

So please everyone, go through and delete all your old unnecessary messages.
