Blocking

I get blocking others from getting a continent is a strategy. But when you go out of your way to block in the beginning oof a 9 person game where someone is clearly 3/4 of the way to getting that continent. Say turn 4/5. And it gives you absolutely no strategic value other than losing troops that's -------
