Hey guys oldie newbie here :)

This to me looks a really good active forum/risk site and one that an oldie newbie can join....I used to play risk a long time ago in my youth and have forgotten how good it can be! Just joined my first game, reread the rules and hope that a relative beginner will meet with a lot of support....I don't mind losing..it's the playing that counts

Hi runner and welcome to the site. You'll find a lot people here (like me) who used to play risk as a kid and have rekindled their love of the game through this site.
One of the things that almost put me off when i first joined was the varieties of the game played here. But I'd urge you to embrace the different gameplay on offer here - as well as the different, brilliantly designed, maps.
But probably the best thing about D12 is the people who, apart from a few, are friendly and play fairly and intelligently. Enjoy.

What is the significance behing the name of the web site? or is that a silly question....thanks for the welcome guys

Here's an extract of a brief D12 history lesson that Vexer has shared with some of us.

"4myGod started the site in 2009 after being a disgruntled ConquerClub player. Their interface wasn't clickable at the time, their maps were awful and he thought he could make money off of it to support his missionary efforts. The 12 part comes from his religion. 12 is a significant number in christianity. He imagined that the top 12 players each month would be listed and have a competition though that didn't happen until I made it happen years later."

I guess the "Dominating" part is due to the theme of world domination in Risk games.

One of the comments I noted on the web when selecting a risk site to make my home was the reference to the beautiful maps here at dominating12....I can only concur with that statement, they are truly stunning and make both viewing the maps and playing the game a most pleasant experience....

welcome runner, you have come to the best risk site online. before here i played hasbro risk 2 online since 1999, up until 2014 there just wasn't any good alternative (for me) to play live/realtime risk till I found D12. It's got everything and more to come. I only wished I stumbled across it when it first started.
