May I direct your attention to game 212743:

If you look at the game log you will see I started my penultimate turn with only 2 territories (but I had 4 cards). I have no idea why I was left alive by the other 4 opponents. Needless to say, that was their mistake. I proceeded to trade in, wipe out one opponent, trade in his cards, wipe out another, trade in twice, wipe out the 3rd, trade in again, and left the final opponent with only 1 territory.

I didn't leave him alive on purpose, I just lost sight of him when I was reinforcing. That map can be tricky to negotiate.

Anyway, let this be a lesson to EVERYONE on D12. Until you see that skull and crossbones next to your name you have hope. Keep fighting and never capitulate!

So what other "1 foot in the grave" stories do you have to share?

Nice job Clarke! Just goes to show how cards are far more important than regions in increasing games.

I am wondering how close my 87 territories conquered on a single turn is to the D12 record. Has to be near the top. Most maps don't have over 90 territories to begin with and you have to start your turn with nearly nothing. I think this has to be kind of a rare event.

And THANKS, L.I.P. for the pat on the back.

I can think of two games.

One was a no card game, with fog, on world expended - I owned Iceland and scandinavia.
Did nothing for a long long time but putting my troops there, couldn't see a thing, and in the end I won, no idea how.

I also once wanted to kill someone in an increasing game, and I didnt see that he had this one territory completely in the top right where I couldnt reach him - so someone else got the kill.
But that someone else was very weak, and couldnt win, only become stronger.
Since someone protected me to kill me later for my cards, I didnt die myself right away, and later managed to get another kill to become back in the game. Won it in the end.

Yeah, sometimes weird things happen, never ever give up :)

Clarke, in a caps game, 87 territories in one turn is not unheard of :)

I once came back in a fog game on world expanded with a single man on one territory. I forget if it was capped or expanded, but I slowly built from there to win the game. No one suspected me at first and they all had their own battles so I was left untouched until the end.

Do you have to be a premium member to be able to view game logs? All I get is a blank screen.
Matty wrote:
Everyone can view them, but sometimes it takes a couple of seconds to load, especially in long games.

Matty - I've never been able to view a game log, in either a game i'm playing / completed/ or watching.
I've left it for up to 10 minutes before and nothing.

Than that's a bug - probably the ajax thing again.

So i was a small army in western europe for a while, losing horrifically.
Then, I moved into north africa. I was still losing, but thank goodness there were no cards, otherwise I could have been slaughtered in one turn.
From there, I exiled my rival from north Africa--black was there first.
I moved into Central America, still losing, and nobody bothered me because pink was winning my a lot.
Continuing, I moved into South America to destroy my old rival, black. He died, then I moved to North America, and killed yellow.
Here's the funny part-I was STILL LOSING! No one bothered me because pink was winning the whole time.
So, near the end, pink had eastern Europe, Eastern Africa, and most of Asia.
I had West Africa, West Europe, all of North America, and all of South America
Green (who was losing by a lot), had just Australia and Indonesia.
Pink was STILL winning! Anyway, we attacked each other, and I finally drowned most of him out. Then GREEN attacked me (lol) multiple times, and I have to admit, it looked like pink could win again, but he didn't get enough armies per turn, because while green was eating away at me, he was going through Pink's territories, too.
All in all, I was losing in this 9 player game for a long time, but I stayed in, played hard, and eventually won. Thats why you should never quit or suicide.
Super awesome game!!!!!ng>

I had a terrible set up to start. Everybody else had territories they could build in easily. I made one play in the beginning and failed. So I just wasted all my other territories and hoped somebody would take me out quick. They all attacked each other and I got to jump on the big ol' steamroller and win it....
