So here is what's left to do until launch (advertise to the public):

Before we launch and I drop cash on advertising I want to make sure the site is ready and addictive enough and has enough to do to hold people for a while. I am afraid if they came right now, with only 1 gametype and 3 maps they would be bored in a month or less, and I don't know when the next updates will come up that would renew their interest.

So I came up with a list of things that I would like to have done before launching:

- Build new gametypes (Capture, Capitals, Kings)
- Add 2 new maps
- Create youtube tutorial for home page
- Fix bugs

When these are complete I will launch. If anyone thinks there is something else that should be done before inviting players tell me and I will add it to the list.

think that's a pretty sound way of setting about it, I doubt the site will be absolutely bug free by launch, but it should be pretty close

oh and I don't know much about website hosting, but i know increased traffic can cause some problems so that's definitely something to consider for launch

I think we should be ok hopefully for a couple of hundred users. However yeah I should start considering the next upgrade.

the most addicting thing you could do is to make ranks based on the number of games you have won. the more games you win, the higher your rank. then find some extra privileges to give to the higher ranks, like exclusive forums or something. It's not really something you could do quickly if you have a date set in mind for launch, but i think it would be the most effective thing in increasing addictiveness.

so let's say I'm on the site for a year or so play 1000 games win 300. then a newcomer to the site wins his first 100 games. Do I still outrank him?

The problem that might come up with your idea though is that when a user plays a game against a good player vs a bad player. If they get a win either way I would just play all 1v1's with nooby players and get a high rank quickly.

So what we have done is setup the ranking system so that you gain an overall skill average which is calculated about once a week, and it calculates the skill of the people you have a tally against. So the goal is to get more winning games than losing games against good players, then your skill average will go up, and your rank is based on your skill.

It's more complex but hopefully it's more fun and challenging.
