Invite only games

I know we have password protected games really it would be cool if noone could get into those games besides admins. I mean I play with about 15 people on here I know personally and work with as we work in a call center. I play at work as i'm allowed to and play upwards of 40 hours a week. It would be awesome If I could say w.e I wanted in the chat as it wouldn't affect anything because I know these people and they are not offended by it. Thats why the idea for invite only games has come up games that appear that noone can get to besides the creator and the ones that have been invited. This would be awesome. Rather than password games that are shwoing as games waiting for players that you trully can't even get to. Cause they are password protected.

I don't know what you mean, but why exactly do password games now work?

Just don't tell anyone the password, than noone can join except for the ppl that you invite.

What is the difference exactly with password protected games? Just set the password to something random and invite people to your game. The people that you invite don't have to fill in the password then.

If you are talking about not showing password games in the lobby: we're working on that.

Exactly but people can still come in and join the chats and what not. It would be better if it won't even let you in the game at all without the password. Also it's like a tease to see a game listed in long term games waiting for players and then bam it has a password why not just leave them off the list.

What you are referring to is called private games. It's on the to do list but no one is working on it.

They are essentially invite only games that don't show up in the game lists and can only be viewed by players who have been invited. If a random player tries to view the game by typing the game number into the URL they will get an error.

I also think he wants the game chat only to be veiwable by staff so that cussing, ignorent comments etc. can be used because, and I quote, "It would be awesome If I could say w.e I wanted in the chat as it wouldn't affect anything because I know these people and they are not offended by it."

The way I would set up private games you would not be able to view the game at all if you weren't invited. If you can't view the game then you certainly can't view the chat either.

You know one time in a long term game there was a password, and I GUESSED IT RIGHT, and broke into the game and joined it. I wasn't invited but i guessed the pw right and joined.

Good, that will learn ppl not to pick easy passwords

I don't understand why you guys think it goes against what the site stands for. This site was created to give people the opportunity to come play the game of Risk with other players around the world. It was not created to MAKE people come and play Risk with other players around the world. If this player in particular wants to play with only his personal friends then I believe that is in his right. What he is saying is that he would like to also be allowed to chat with them the way they would usually do so without having to filter themselves. I understand how he feels but at the present time we do not have that option. It is an idea that would be plausible if a programmer ever wanted to look into it but as we have volunteer programmers we like to let them work on things they enjoy doing. andrew22888 at the current time this is not something that we would be able to do for you unfortunately. It is a possibility in the future but at the present time there are some other things that are a bit more important with the limited resources we have. As always though we will keep it in mind for the future and hopefully you can be the first one to test it out when we are able to bring this feature to DXII.

I believe the reference is to keeping the cussing toned down, vulgarity, racism, etc. out of the site. I also believe, like Holt, that with the limited resources and the lengthy to do lists that the programmers have, working on a way to allow players to be rude, ignorent, offensive, etc. is going to be on the bottom of the list as it really does very little to improve the site.

Thats exactly what i'm saying holt. As alot of people I play with are in a call center I work at nearly 20 of us. And rather than go to gchat all the time. We would like to just say it in the game chat. And thats what I'm saying is that I would like a private game to be private me and friends only. I could actually program it do that very easily. But I'm not a admin/volunteer for this site. Just like one of my friends got busted for saying F*** you in the chat he actually used the word. But I don't care we are all in our 20's and were actually sitting next to eachother. And I'm a cage fighter if I was offended I would of punched him in the mouth. LOL

I understand what you are saying, andrew22888. It's just because the currant programming does not allow that and the site is open to all ages that we enforce the language rules.

Also, because the programmers are voluteers, their time is usally spent on a huge list of things intended to improve the site and this would not make a high priority on the list.

If, as you say, you could easily program it, maybe you should send a PM to Fendi in order to volunteer your services. I'm sure she wouldn't mind at least discussing the possibility.
