If I feel I'm about to get stampeded, I'll ask if anyone else is seeing a lot of said color to get some feed back. Often times I get no response, but at least the intel is out there for others to take action or notice. Fog games are fun like that. You never know who to trust, who's in the lead, etc. I also agree with Vexer's comment about agreeing with Vexer.

So it's not really fog of war because you can say whatever you want. Good to know.

Has anyone ever discussed hiding the card count for FOG games? I'm assuming that would be too much work.

In Fog of War, as in real life, you need to get good Intel. How do you know what I am saying is true? The only two players that knows that my Intel is truthful...myself and the player I am talking about. I have said things about a player that I might know is true and another takes the bait and tells me it is true or false by saying that they have a territory in a place I was making a statement about. This is a form of Intel ... or the other player attacks them to get the bonus away that I thought they had or so they will attack them to get them weaker.

You can never be sure if a player is giving you false Intel or correct Intel ... it is just to "Foggie"

Bottom line ... say what you want about the placements... just say they are lying about it, when they say it about yours. You will never know.

Just had this happen to me... must say I'm pissed because it will change the outcome of this game. Game 232349, Be forewarned I let my anger known. I normally dont play fog games but when I do I never divulge troop numbers or specifics that will affect the game. I will use chat to suggests things (see in game chat) but never will give specifics just vague notions.

Is there any type of discipline for giving out others players troop numbers and locations?

How would one know if the numbers where true? If I look at a complaint in the game I can not see anything...cause it is fog...so how do you discipline when you see no wrong doing?
Take your word?

Yeah, I wouldn't have necessarily believed wise except that you got pissed at him. Sometimes staying silent in those situations is the best way to deal with it.

Thorpe, if you are only talking about one game, you are absolutely right, and everyone can say whatever he wants.

However, if players know you, and they know you never lie, than suddenly the chance of you being right is quite high.

Just pointless having FOG imho with this silly rule. When you playing against a group who are friends, it untips the balance even more.

The point of fog games is not for everyone to be totally blind. The gameplay is about knowing the board more than your opponents, which includes deciding which information you want to trust. The idea of fog games with chat disabled has been discussed, but I think it would be much less interesting.

Well... as many have said, when it's a fog game, information is your best weapon. Giving out specifics is a bit rude I believe. But I'm all for lying and telling who's in what general location. Sometimes I'll just throw completely bogus things out there to make others attack someone. Really rather fun to control a game that way.

Hiding card count like Drac suggested would be suuuuper cool!!! Especially in boring ol' caps! All you pokey old people would probably just sit around for like 90 turns afraid to move lest you not be able to ride the steamroller :D

As someone who plays fog Very often, I think, to paraphrase the old adage, all is fair in Love and Risk-like* games (*not affiliated with Hasbro)

However, like many (if not MOST) etiquette questions (that do NOT need rule changes to enforce) social-Darwinism will keep repeat-offenders out of games.

Too much info in fog, is in the eye of the beholder.

Chat is part of good fog strategy as much as anything. Play to win and HAVE FUN :D

Hi Guys, I have a question about Fog War game, so during the game a player who gave to much information about my moves should be punished, (points) also with their statements on the chat have clearly violated the regulation because they have formed a team not specify it, here you are what he wrote:

green u win - light blue made mistake
light blue took over france and italy - i will fight back when i have chance
nevermind green wins

all this happened to me yesterday during a game 348847, otherwise would not play in a Fog Game !
