A very interesting thread... and very elusive to be sure...
Let us consider the Olympics...

Let us consider the Olympics...
- Can the best swimmer be the fastest runner?
Would a Gold Metal for Pole Vaulting be worth less in ranking than a Gold metal for Weight Lifting?
Of course not... these metals are for specialists! And they compete with others that excel in their same field.
Even the Pentathlon has "only" 5 events (fencing, pistol shooting, swimming, horseback and cross country running),,,
So how would you propose to rate their athleticism to the person running in 5 different track and field events?
- Let's take Warrant Officers for example.
In the Army, about 50% of warrant officers are rotary wing aviators (helicopter pilots)
But there are many other Warrant Officers that simply cannot fly at all.
They might be specialists in Counterintelligence., or Electronic Missile Systems.
Do we rate them one above another based on their ability to defeat one another in a brawl?
Of course not... so again, the analogy is that there is no way to rate who is BEST, unless we compare them within the same field.
- My personal enjoyment is Deathmatch, with Increasing Cards, 4, 5 or 6 players, on the World Classic Map.
So if there were to be a ratings list, I would be interested to sub sort it by THOSE criteria to find the most worthy opponents. Others might want to see their specific "specialist" opponents... be it team games, specialized maps, fog, or what ever...
Some for the purpose of finding the best players to compete with,
And some for the purpose of finding the easiest players to win against.
Still others, would search for the wildly diverse, like the Pentathlon competitor in the Olympics, and possibly with even more "events".
But just like all the Pentathlon Gold metal winners of the past, they are most likely not the best at any one of those SPECIFIC events, just better than the other Pentathlon "specialists".
