Middle East map

Features:
56 territories,
8 regions + 3 sets of oil bonuses.

There is no much progress in graphics compared to the previous version: you can see it here, in the Episcopal Lab thread.
I've just substituted the original oil icons (wells) which weren't great, with those provided by aeronautic with rectangular shape.
They are much better and clear for me.

I show 2 slightly different versions:

Version A
Greyish colours and black contour lines (click to show)

Version B

Bahrain is a little state island in the Persian Gulf and to include it in the game I decided to magnify it with a lens effect. Maybe it is not really clear so it has been suggested to remove the lens effect and just put a game circle over the island of Bahrain. I haven't tried yet.
The camels won't stay like that, I will make them transparent and maybe substitute them with other pictures.

Update: new colours, new lines, 3 different Bahrain solutions.
A part from Bahrain the 3 are identical.

I also like option Arrow.

Here I post a new version with just some small tweaks from previous. I fixed a few minor flaws and arranged the position of the circles.

I forgot to mention, the names of the regions are supposed to be:
  • Turkey & Islands (dark green)
  • Levant States (orange)
  • Egypt (purple)
  • Iran (brown)
  • Iraq (green-teal)
  • Saudi Arabia (yellow)
  • Yemen & Oman (light green)
  • Persian Gulf States (red)

That red outer circle won't work, it will cause confusion with coloured circles.
All you'll need is a solid line perhaps the same colour as the region, pointing toward the island.

Best check the Region colours in the Cartographer Panel, to see if the colourblindness can distinguish them.

Someone also suggested to make the text more readable, so here is my new version:

Changes are:
- a bit darker background
- glow around text
- hidden the red ring

what about the '4 corners' at jordan-sinai? any issues there?
is the map lopped off at top and bottom just in the example but not in the final?
The_Bishop wrote:
Uhm.. I don't see Israel corner touching Tabuk corner, so Sinai and Jordan connect. Ah wait the problem is the sea corner perhaps.
Well, Israel border is already cheated really and also the coast line a tiny bit, in order to make it clear, but if it is not I can modify it even more...

In my reference map (very detailed one) a small part of Turkey was cut off, I just did the same with Yemen. For beeing equal and avoid to include much of the southern part which is almost empty. Just useful for mini-map and bonuses, so once I got how much room I nedeed there, I cut the rest out.
The cut is not aesthetic? I also don't like to scroll much.. Maybe I can restore the original size but I'm not sure I can.

It is quite standard for land to overlap the edges of the map, it's fine as it is, but well spotted jr502, those connections really need some thought.
If the connections to the Red Sea inlet are incorrect, then correct them (make sure they are unambiguous) and use a connection line if you want to have Jordan connected to Sinai.

Thanks for the appreciations, I didn't answer immediately because I wanted to show the progression.
Unfortunately I got busy with my job and had to suspend this...

Really I don't know what I have to do more. I don't see much problem with Jordan and Sinai. I can adjust it a bit though. When I told about a geographical cheat there, I was speaking of a very tiny one, if still there's ambiguity I can cheat it a little bit more, just really slighty.

Maybe I had already modified it and didn't publish the change (I don't know) I should check, but not now sorry., perhaps in the weekend.

Perhaps others might have things to add, but nothing has been mentioned yet.

For me, the map looks really nice with just a couple of very minor issues.
The word "bonuses" looks out of place and is not required.
The graphic of a spurting oil well under the title, I feel is a bit cheesy and the map might look better without it.

What about an oil well pump instead of an oil well spurting oil? Not a big difference but perhaps a little less cheesy as aero said?
